Swiftrun is the guardian spirit of the Deep Woods, but she is considered to be no guardian to dragons. Many travels who venture near Melody Town will be drawn into the Woods by the eerie ringing of bells, but will never be seen again. Swiftwind takes on many forms, including that of a silver fox, but her main form resembles a half-dead imperial; likely a body that the spirit found and chose for herself. She is sometimes referred to as the silver fox spirit. Few residents of Melody Town have ever seen Swiftwind in any form and do their best to avoid her.

However, she is no evil force, despite what the townsfolk may say. While mostly monsters and spirits inhabit her Woods, there are a few outcast dragons that she welcomes. She even raised Wadin, having found him as a hatchling missing from his family, and allowed him to stay. She is not all that cruel to the dragons that go missing. She tends to show them their own way out of the Woods, letting them go strong along the way, before they leave the physical plane. Perhaps to join a deity, perhaps to go somewhere else entirely. Every now and then, though, a dragon may turn up dead with Swiftrun to blame.
