Despite her imposing nature, Blair intends to be anything but. Adventurous and wild, she has a bit of a recklessness to her that is as untamable as rough gusts of wind. If she ever bore sensitivity over being orphaned, she's sure not to show it from behind a cool demeanor that oozes confidence and arrogance. She spends most of her time flying all over Sorneith -- her secret love affair with archaeology and exploration made her a prime candidate for the clan's Head of Exploration. Despite her constant travels, she will occasionally stop by the Grove in the Viridian Labyrinth for a moment to visit with her special lady.
"What are you" - Blair jerked back in surprise as the little hatchling before her lurched forward, slinging egg goop into the distance. His hide was pale, yet his wings were a volatile red. He peered up at her with large, green eyes, and a cheerful smile.
"Momma!"
"I am not your mother." Blair corrected harshly, her tone cold. She didn't particularly like children, but it wasn't like she'd anticipated the egg hatching now. It wasn't the first time she'd found an abandoned egg in her care before, but normally they stayed safely tucked in her satchel until they were delivered. Safely into the care of someone who wanted to be around hatchlings. This one did not seem to have gotten the memo. The little fae looked up at her with adoration, and she scowled down darkly at it.
"Awe, c'mon Blair have a heart." Brook came up next to her, leaning over to eye the little hatchling with curiosity. "Let's at least get him out of here, place is crawling with beasties and we don't have anyone to watch our backs."
"Daddy!"
Blair almost snorted at the look of surprise and indignation that crossed Brook's face as the hatchling crowed and claimed the other messenger as well. "Seems I'm not the only one he likes."
Brook put his nose to the air, quiet for a moment. "The Grove isn't far from here."
She didn't ask what he meant by that; Bunny was nearby. Of course, her sweet and gentle pastel princess would know exactly what to do. Hopefully, Bunny had the room for another mouth to feed, and this thing wasn't quite so attached to her as it seemed. Re-imprints were not common among the orphaned, but possible.
"We'll have to hurry, then." Gathering up him up into her satchel, she firmly tucked away the fae and launched herself into the air.
xxxxx
"What do you mean, 'no?'" Blair stared at her other half dumbly. Bunny was as soft as always, but firm in her statement. "You just said you had room for him!"
"He's clearly attached to you, Blair." Bunny sat primly, looking ever the image of elegance, despite the various hatchlings crawling across her and smearing her in Windsinger only knew what. "He'll be devastated, and I can't go forcing him away from you, now can I?"
"Sure you can. Same way you do to any of those ones." Blair gestured to the rapscallions wandering in their midst.
"I raise them," Bunny corrected gently, "but they do not imprint on me. Besides, you seem rather taken with him already." She gestured to the lad with a knowing look towards her girlfriend.
Blair stared down at the sleeping hatchling curled between her foreclaws. Loathe as she was to admit it, Bunny was right -- the trip here had been longer than expected, with more detours than she'd planned on. During the trip, her resentment of him had faded a little. Not exactly what she would call her own brand of maternal love, given that he was still a sudden surprise that threw a hitch in everything, but she was fond of him.
"Could take him with us," Brook suggested to the surprise of everyone present. He looked at them all. "What? We're always saying how we're shorthanded, and it's not like he'll take being away from you well at all. He'd follow you everywhere and get himself in trouble, or worse, he'd get hurt trying to find you."
Blair sighed. She hated it when he was right.
