A Guardian who was born into a Water clan known for their fairly influential oracles. Before she was fully grown, the event known as the Bounty of the Elements occurred, and she was separated from her mother and the rest of her clutch during a trip to the surface thanks to the maelstrom. She was found on the shores of the Tsunami Flats after the disaster by Reshitao. The nocturne took in the hatchling even with her own clan also recovering from losing their home over night and gave her the name Calaeril.

Calaeril grew up healthy, not remembering much of her life within the Fishspine Reef, and like most Guardians born within Water, showed some prowess with divination and foretelling.

It was when she was fully grown that her true potential as an incredibly powerful Oracle came to light. Her magic is strong enough to dispel corruption within prophecy bubbles with ease, and her visions are strong and accurate like her swimming skills. If Calaeril predicts something, it will come true, no questions asked.

She's interested in other styles of divination that the other Flights utilize, namely since the Tidelord had gone missing that fateful day the maelstrom hit, and her flight's usual methods, like capturing bubbles that held parchment or whispers, or staring into pools of crystal clear water, gazing into crystal balls, or burning special concoctions and chanting age old incantations, aren't able to locate any clues as to the whereabouts of the deity. But perhaps other methods, while certainly not as acurate, could.

She loves to see other seers or oracles from different flights, be it from her clan or visitors passing by, especially if they indulge her curiosity about the variying foretelling methods from their birth flights. Of course, such visitors are rare, seeing as those with the ability to divine the future usually belong to Water. Being a quick learner, Calaeril practices these other techniques alongside her own in an attempt to strengthen her own abillities as a Seer. The scribes of the clan also catalogue these methods and share them with neighboring clans who have seers of their own, be they from Water or not. Calaeril has been fortunate enough to meet at least one foreteller from the rest of the ten flights, and she manages to keep in touch with them as pen pals.

Foretellers from different clans have commented that with proper discipline, she could easily become one of, if not the strongest oracle within the Tsunami Flats, and definitely one of the more potent oracles of the Sea of a Thousand Currents.

Archive of Divination methods by Flight

Earth: Geomancy is the most preferred method. Earth dragons also look at the layers of rock. The location of the sample tells where relative to that the thing will happen, and other factors such as color, density, etc... tell what will happen and why it will happen. However, there is a more dangerous practice that practiced Earth Seers can survive. If one ventures into the Cairnstone, they will eventually be met with complete and utter darkness alongside a looming silence. Total Sensory deprivation is enough to drive most dragons mad, but those Earth oracles who manage to brave this venture with a will as strong as stone are granted visions of the future.

Plague: Seers are especially rare and highly respected within the Scarred Wasteland. Only one known method has been noted by the denizens of Plague. Plague oracles intentionally sicken themselves by traveling the Wastes, sometimes all the way to the Wrymwound itself, and then interpret the fever dreams they get. They are revered in their clans for braving the Plaguebringer's brood time and time again to glean whispers of her intent.

Ice: Oracles in the Icewarden's domain are not as rare as Plague, but are fairly limited due to the nature of the element, namely to "preserve" , however, a few techniques have been charted down from the few that practice. Icicle readings which use the patterns of groups of fallen icicles, unique Snowflake patterns, and even listening to the chilling howls of the blizzards that occur in the Cloudscape Crags.

Lightning: You would think that Lightning Oracles couldn't exist, but, like Ice, a fair few do exist. They are the dwellers of the desert, utilizing some unique techniques for their prophecies. The most basic of readings are weather readings, since Lightning dragons are highly sensitive to changes in air pressure. Lightning seers can also look for shapes and patterns within Lichtenberg patterns after lightning strikes or produce them on materials with a charge. Drawing magnets over ferrous materials is another method, though mainly used by more veteran Seers.

Arcane: Unironically, the oracles under the Arcanist read the stars and positions of the planets. Lesser known methods include reading Runes and the study of meteorite chunks, particularly the magically charged ones.

Nature: Nature dragons are prone to ingesting hallucinogenic plants and fungi to see visions. Tea leaf readings are the most common of the methods. Flowers are also used as a way to tell ones future, as flowers, herbs, fungi, and even trees have a language and meaning all their own in Nature.

Shadow: Shadow dragons scrying methods are undoubtedly based either on fun or randomness. A roll of the dice, a flip of a coin, and tarot cards reign supreme in Shadow. More veteran seers utilize the position of Sornieth's two moons and have even crafted special "moon dials".

Light: Most Light Oracles are naturally drawn to Sun dials while others use reflections and scrying mirrors. Watching the position of the Sun relative to the Beacon of the Radiant Eye is also a well known approach. The most dangerous method is by far staring directly at the sun for days on end. It certainly might explain why so many of Light's seers and even some philosophers wear blindfolds.

Wind: Wind scrying practices simple in nature, but effective none the less. Meditation is by far the most common method, but also the weakest. Other techniques include cloud readings, using wind chimes and studying the melodies that occur, and simply tossing feathers or leaves into the air and watching how they dance in the wind.

Fire: Fire Foretellers, like those in Plague, are cherished, though not as incredibly rare. The most obvious approach is simply staring into the fire, watches the size and colors of the flames. More advance methods utilize the burning of bones, namely the cracks and soot marks that occur in and on them when they burn. Even Smoke readings are performed.

Water: Water flight oracles have the most variety in terms of methods of divining the future. Techniques range from sea shell readings, capturing bubbles that hold parchment or whispers, staring into pools of crystal clear water, gazing into crystal balls (or even bubbles!), or burning special concoctions and chanting age old incantations. More advance ways utilize the waves themselves while those deeper down make great use of underwater currents. The denizens of the Spiral Keep guard their scrying secrets well, one of them similar to Earth's dangerous treks into darkened caves. The immense pressures and freezing tempretures underwater are a trial all their own, alongside the eerie silence that blankets the bottom of the sea, only broken by the groans of horrors that their deity kept away with his own bellows. They say those who meditate under these conditions are prone to powerful visions.
