Feather
Feather was never very good at things his lair approved of. Wherever he planted his big feet, flowers seemed to sprout instead of wilting. Leaves gathered in his fur, somehow staying crisp and green.
"You have magic in you, and it's not of the Plaguebringer," his father said when he came of age.
"But," his mother whispered, the wilting flower around her neck dropping a black petal onto Feather's foot, "there are other places in this world, where things sprout and do not wilter..."
On Feather's foot, the petal turned red and yellow, splotches of green spreading around its corners.
"Go towards the night, boy," his mother said, turning away towards the Wyrmwound. "When you're through, there'll be a spring morning waiting for you."
