xxxWe live, breathe, and sleep our deities. Some of us serve them for our entire lives. But some of us, we go beyond our natural lives. Our colors drain, and we turn deathly black. We come back and serve our new clan masters, the ultimate sacrifice we can make. But do not fret, we don’t ooze, disintegrate, or even smell. The Plaguebringer took care of that.
xxxWe originated in the Bubeos Clan, where The Plaguebringer left us to grow strong. “You’ll be safe here,” she told us. “The Master and his leaders will ensure it.” So we stay, protecting them in return for the loving home we’ve been given. Death is as death does, and when you’re blessed by a deity, what can go wrong?
xxxWe’re death personified, and as those around us grow weaker, we gain their strengths, allowing them to live on with us, when the Lady cannot give them life herself. We carry them, showing them the world they left behind through our own eyes.
xxxAnd who are we? We’re the Death Guards, guardians by design and birth. We protect those who cross the borders between life and death in our clan and path. It’s what we were made to do.
