Biography

Gilver the reformed butcher
DRIVEN | HUMBLE | INQUISITIVE
“You can’t get rid of me that easily.” Oh yes, yes he could. Gilver lifted a lip in a vicious snarl at the insinuated threat. His partner in crime, now his opponent, a cruel Coatl, sneered back in response. “We’ve been through so much, and you’d throw me away for a chance in a new world? You’ll never make it.” Though he was much larger than his abhorrent counterpart, Gilver had followed the brightly-hued Coatl for much of his life. It was only natural – the Imp was boring in comparison to the splendidly colored plumage of the Coatl. They had been friends since birth, finding solace in each other through their journeys in the Scarred Wasteland. The pair had been through thick and thin together, having been left to fend for themselves. They quickly learned to take first and ask questions later -- the Coatl masterminding scenarios and Gilver providing the muscle to obtain what they sought. Stealing, killing, and ruthlessly destroying – the pair had ravaged the Plague countryside all through their youth. At first, the gigantic Imp enjoyed his work. It was easy – he was so large, most of the time all he had to do was stand there, reveal his equally colossal teeth, and the rest of the world would cower. As time passed, he grew bored and his counterpart grew increasingly merciless. Rather than just stealing goods from unwary merchants, the Coatl began to kill any who that crossed his path. Exhausted by his partner’s bloodlust and the never-ending festering expanse of the Wastelands, Gilver grew increasingly restless and pushed to leave the contaminated lands of his birth. His agitation increased steadily until he presented an ultimatum to his childhood friend – leave the Wastelands, or be left alone. Gilver blinked and shuffled his massive wings, tilting his head to one side at his partner’s aggression. “You can come with me, you know.” He shrugged, already knowing how his counterpart would respond. “Life can’t be that bad outside of this hellhole of a place….” The Coatl responded with nothing more but a snarl. With bared teeth and a flap of his dazzling wings, the dragon left Gilver on the edge of Rotrock Rim without another word. The dark Imp sighed and watched the dot of his childhood friend disappear into the horizon. He turned towards the West, towards a legendary training school in the Starfall Isles. There, he knew he would find a new beginning – a story of his own writing. |
