Chow (purportedly short for Charlie, though no one's been able to prove it), owns a bakery and very basic deli with his wife Kate. Kate works the counter and bakes the essentials: rolls and muffins and all different kinds of bread. Chow's side of the business runs to baking specialty pastries, assembling sandwiches, and sweets.

This arrangement suits him well, as Chow is nowhere near the easy talker Kate is. He has a bad tendency to say things he doesn't mean, or things he does mean but didn't mean to say like that, that leads to awkwardness and misunderstandings galore until he apologizes and explains, or someone else has to clear it up.

Cherry calls it a permanent case of foot-in-mouth disorder. And it's incurable.

Chow is the only dragon in Square Toe who seems to have any idea who Stratemeyer is. To everyone else, she showed up out of nowhere (literally) and built a little shack halfway up a cliff where she does who-knows-what. She treats Chow like an old friend.
