BIOGRAPHY
"Come, Krycek", his mother - was it his mother? - cooed, nudging the adolescent forward with her nose. He grumbled; a faint, disregarded protest, and grudgingly stepped forward."I don't want to go, Mama," - so it was his mother - "Why are you making me leave?" The older dragon - Krycek's mother - exhaled heavily through her nostrils. "We've been over this, Alex," Alex - his childhood name - "You won't do well here. Leave, go to where the land is green and rich. They'll accept you there, Alex - you can grow. Thrive, not only survive." And then, she was gone. Alex - now Krycek - wandered for the next month or so. He scraped by on what little he had - he was cunning and quick, and not afraid to play dirty in order to succeed. Krycek was near the outskirts of the dragonhome lands when he first felt it - the familiar pricking at the back of his neck, the quivering of his tail. Someone - or something - was watching him. Tracking him, perhaps - though he'd been careful to cover his tracks as much as possible. Thus far, his journey had been uninterrupted; he'd been stopped a couple of times, had his heels snapped at and barged out of claimed territory - but he had a feeling things were going to turn for the worst. It was three days after Krycek first had the feeling that he caught a glimpse of the dragon he suspected of following him. The dragon was extremely well camouflaged in the hazy shadows of the viridian labyrinth, but his body shone like the sun, glimmered like the sea, settling after a storm. Krycek was intrigued; he'd never seen a dragon like this before. So he picked up the dragon's scent, and trudged on in search of this newfound fascination. Plodding further into the viridian labyrinth, Krycek became incredibly wary. He hadn't had sight of the mysterious dragon for four days, and he was becoming weary. Fatigue and hunger frayed at the corners of his mind, blurring his sight and clouding his judgement. Krycek had never been in a place like this before, and was relying entirely on instinct - with the overwhelming urge to sleep, he found that he couldn't even trust himself anymore. Krycek found a seemingly uninhabited area; there was no evidence of nesting, or of any activity at all - and settled under the shade of what he considered to be a gigantic tree. The speckles of sun that poured down through the canopies warmed his body, and he soon fell into a deep, uninterrupted sleep. |
BIOGRAPHY
When he awoke, Krycek found that he was no longer alone. The dragon - the one he'd been tracking - the one that'd been tracking him - was crouched by the gentle stream, flowing just metres away from where Alex lay. He seemed to either not have noticed the snoozing dragon, or had chosen to ignore him, but Kryc-"You're awake, then? I thought you might have died in your sleep. You've been out a while." The dragon's voice came as a shock to Krycek, and he rose slightly; sitting on his haunches, head dizzy from the sudden movement. Krycek's mouth opened in protest, though all that came out was a broken hiss. The shining dragon tilted his head. "Drink, Darko." He murmured - Darko? A pet name, already? Krycek did as he was told, taking long, open gulps - unwilling to let the stranger out of his sight for so long. "Name?" The shining dragon asked, monotone, nonchalant. "Krycek." "Ahel." "What?" "Ahel. It's my name." The stranger - Ahel - allowed Krycek to stick around with him on his paroles. Krycek learnt that Ahel was from a nearby clan, and that the clan was supposedly inclusive and kind. He didn't have the guts to ask - but Ahel seemed to take the hint as he led the younger dragon back to the clan's territory once his patrol ended. The clan leaders - Phobos and Alibi - welcomed Krycek after asking some initial questions. Young, overwhelmed, and still slighty co-dependent, Krycek settled in Ahel's den with the other dragon. After settling into the clan, Krycek blossomed. It became apparent that his cunning, charming nature could be very useful, and he was named the clan's operative - his role was information retrieval, and maintaining relationships with neighboring clans. Krycek, once dull, and broken - began to shine, like the dragon that brought him here. Lore by idiosyncratic |
