Biography
The Interview
Coy pulled himself up onto the smooth wooden table with a rattling of chains and scraping of hard, gem-like growths against lacquered bamboo. Looking from face to face in the spacious sunlit chamber that was the main meeting area. The soft loamy walls of earth held back by latticed beams reached up far over his head, curving inwards slightly and stopping in time to allow most all of the ceiling to be nonexistent. The sunlight felt nice and warm, only trickles of breeze making its way in through the top and the beaded curtains of the entryway.
Tybalt's soft yet very audible "Ahem" brought him back from his brief lapse in thought. He sent a meek smile her way, his cold breath visible even in the warm air.
"Your request for a position of authority within our clan has been received and considered. While you have been here only a short time compared to most of our residents, you have fastly established yourself in a leading and teaching position.." Tybalt continued on but Coy's eyes couldn't help but dart to the other clan leaders' faces in the room.
The patriarch and his wife both betrayed little evidence of favor or emotion. But he was starting to catch on that this was their most common face, Aech's being the less intimidating of the two. He hadn't talked with either of them very much, despite their common appearance chatting with a regular few other dragons and visitors. The matriarch intimidated him, and something about Aech caused him pause in his efforts to make light conversation. The other spiral curled on the table near Tybalt is the one Coy has made the most efforts to befriend. Wyndham was looking mostly at him, but also glancing off at no one for momentary spells. Coy gathered that he was not the most fond of stressful situations, and didn't want to be associated with the possible situation of his rejection.
"And in our chats, you have demonstrated nothing short of keen intelligence and social prowess. The most important trait we are needing from you, however, is the will for good works and stability of our home, your home..." His eyes fell on the massive Tybalt again. Her large, small-for-a-guardian size took up more room in the chamber than the other four dragons in it combined. The dark shine of her scales and jewelry gave her the most regal appearance in the chamber that compounded on her already quietly overpowering personality. Her dark eyes still popped against the midnight tone of her face.
"And we found you sufficient there as well. Assuming your application was not for naught, we happily accept you into those dragons that dedicate their energy and time into the safety and health of Reedwhistle. Coy, Congratulations." And at those words her mouth turned up into a smile. It was the most friendly she had ever appeared to him.
