It hasn't been long since I have left the safe shelter of my shell.
Barely able to carry my pearl, I'm half walking, half flying, if you can call that "flying".
Dad's pale scales are hardly visible in the sunset, and I'm getting tired, and bored.
I miss my siblings. I miss home. It may have been filled with corruption, but at least there was food.

I stumble against a root. My head meets the ground harshly, then my pearl hits my forehead.
Fortunately, Dad didn't see that. He'd use that word again.

Unfitting.

I shiver. Maybe it was a good thing that I left "home", after all.
I gather the poor remains of dignity that I have left, and raise my head,
forward, toward the future.

And this is how, kids, I reached this peaceful place.
I had been ostracized, here I'm feared and respected.
My opinion is valued, and this is why you're here today, for I deemed you worthy of staying around.
