Long ago in the Fortress of Ends early before the sunrise, an Arcane Fae prisoner infested by the Shade laid an Egg that she had been carrying weeks before her capture. The Egg was spherical as one that would be expected to be formed in the Starfall Isles, but it was grey and cold as the concrete of the prison walls. Before he could order it disposed of, the Icewarden noticed a faint spark of life within it, attempting to draw in his energy. In a rare instance of pity and possibly empathy from the Ice God, he took it for himself, much to the shock of the Gaolers who had brought it to him. Understanding that a dying Egg from any realm drawing in magic from another rarely survives, he took it outside to a spire which draws in the aura of the Sun's light at Dawn. With the Sun's warmth, his own Ice Magic, and the power of a Tiger's Soul, he made the Egg shine with the pink of Arcane and the blue of Ice. It hatched to a tiny Fae dragon, whose colors and markings reflected the energy that gave her life, and he named her Innyx, which means Night's End. However, his compassion towards the Hatchling faded merely to tolerance, and he refused to be her caretaker. The Icewarden sent a Frostbite Hummingbird, one of his spirit messengers, over the desolate hills into the Snowmelt Valley at the northern crossing between the Cloudscrape Crags and Snowsquall Tundra, where a Grand City of Dragons and the Kinna, a Beastclan allied with Dragonkind, resides on its eastern slopes. It bared its message to Kokori, a Quail Kinna who had personally aided the Icewarden in battle and is known to the City as a great protector from hostile Beasts and Creatures. She was to travel to the Fortress of Ends to retrieve Innyx, where she would take the young Fae north to the cliffs of the Frigid Floes to raise her and teach her of Sornieth. As Kokori migrated from one edge of the Southern Icefield to the other, she raised Innyx and taught her how to hunt and fight and did what she could to help the Fae access her Magic, a skill which Kokori herself did not possess. They met many Clans of Dragons, and faced tough adversaries; some hostile Beastclans such as the Longneck, some aggressive Creatures such as Yeti and Wolves. Innyx often felt overwhelmed knowing the Icefield was only a fraction of what the World had to offer, desiring to see it all and to protect the people of Sornieth. However, that would have to wait as Kokori told her as they reached a calm cliffside at the floes, as she still had more to learn before she was ready. Not long after their arrival, a herd of Tundra Dragons made its annual migration to the fertile cliffs. One of them, with a bright blue coat and dull wings, became infatuated with the young Fae while watching her train in combat with Kokori and expressed his interest, introducing himself as Zeyrul. Despite the Quail's disapproval of him and warnings that Innyx was too young to understand Love, they still grew close over several days and formed a nest together, and their conversations led Innyx to desire a simpler life with him and his herd. However, only one Egg out of five managed to survive, which Innyx believed was a warning from the Icewarden to not follow Zeyrul, whose loyalty to his herd would not allow him to stay. The egg hatched into Yklyz, Innyx's only child. The challenge of raising him, even with Kokori's help, exhausted her, and she wondered if she could really leave the Icefield while worrying for his well-being. Kokori told Innyx that it's natural to be worried about Family, and even of those you have protected before, always wondering where they are and what they are doing. Kokori presented the final step of Innyx's training, as instructed by the Icewarden: to begin and lead a new Clan, and bring it back to the City, to the Aurora Falls. She would have to learn to organize and sustain an entire Community before she may leave the Icefield. |

The stories of the many dragons who made their way to this Clan, which Innyx named Dawnlight in gratitude for the Miracle the Icewarden provided for her, should be told about them and not Innyx; however, through perseverance, Innyx did learn how to be Leader and Protector of her Clan, even before they migrated towards the Boreal Wood and the Aurora Falls. And, of course, before she met the love of her life, Magnanimity. Perhaps that long story shall be told another time, it is quite lengthy and romantic. For now, know that Innyx now understands Love thanks to the Mirror Dragon, and has found clarity in what she wants to do in life. With her Mate, she has been able to see many corners of the World, learning and appreciating its many Cultures, as a pair of Mercenaries to protect Dragonkind, following in the footsteps of her Mentor and Mother, Kokori. They still visit home, to support the Clan with their Treasures and their Stories. However, there have been whispers of an ancient force pushing its way into Sornieth. Innyx has nightmares of the Sun's Light fading, of her heart's Ice melting into nothing, of her Tiger Spirit vanishing. She has been showing signs of depression, of paranoia, and has suffered many sleepless nights. Magnanimity worries for her Lover's health as she eats little and has lost focus. Perhaps the Icewarden has answers, but he will not answer their prayers..... |
