The gaolers had been isolated in their god's territory for so long that they had lost knowledge of the other elemental energies and their area of influence. In shock and fearing divine punishment from the Icewarden, the small clan left their newest member behind, Fortunately he was found only hours later by a Forge Warden scout who had been following the strange tracks left by the adults. The scout was confused by the appearance of the malformed tundra hatchling, but returned him to the lair to at least give him a meal. Others in the clan agreed, despite his physical differences, he was deserving of love as a member of the Fire Flight.

It was obvious that as Buhali grew into an adult, he was much more than a tundra. He was bigger, stronger, loved eating meat and shed his antlers like an imperial. Some thought he was a hybrid of Light and Ice, but tests and examinations left the clan's healers and scholars baffled by his biology. Even after consulting with many other clans, there was no record of anything like him. It wasn't until Vasha arrived that his existence finally made sense. He spent days asking her of their breed's histories and purpose, while she questioned what life was like beyond the Icefields. They bonded quickly during their interrogations, and eventually became mates.
