War never changes. Whatever the world.
She was born in one of the clans of nature. She doesn't even remember it's name or where exactly they lived. She did not remember her parents and siblings either. Though it doesn't really matter to her now, because everything's been crushed to dust anyway. There was nothing in the middle of a once beautiful village.
Orphaned and despite her descent from nature, Sumiko was taken in by the founding parents of one of the plague clans. In this way, from a wooded and green land, she found herself in a hostile and terrifying world of plague and pestilence. At first the air felt strangely stuffy and she could not see further than a few meters. In the middle of a terrible and foreign land, she was alone.
Over time, she saw and heard from farther and farther distances. New faces and voices began to enter her reality. Or maybe it was she who was coming back to life. As she finally began to find herself in her new position, she realized that the place she was in was one great cluster of orphaned, lost and nowhere to go dragons and creatures. A home for children of war from all corners of the world, in the middle of a harsh land.
Their lives were not easy, the war was still going on and most of the clan was made up of children and the sick. As a daughter of the founders, she naturally became an increasingly important pillar of the clan over the years. She saw her friends, no, her family go away. Not all of them managed to survive, often children who, unlike her, did not have the courage and hope to keep moving forward after having lost everything. She remembered them all, every voice, a few laughs, multiple sorrows. In the middle of once empty heart, love settled in.
In time, the war ended. Sumiko took over the role of leader. On her shoulders, she had to bear the responsibility of building a strong clan, composed not of once-scared children, but strong, loving dragons, each unique and important. Now she stood in the middle of nowhere, with all her family looking at the future.
