______ Anhi loves to collect flowers. He's always loved to collect flowers, actually, some just because they're pretty, some because they have practical uses, others because he's never see them before and wants to bring them with him as souvenirs, mementos, of his travels. Anhi started his life as a traveler, born in a wind clan who didn't quite know what to do about his coloring. It's true, his original clan was certainly... unusual, but he was a bit too unusual. ______ After wandering through the wilds of Sornieth for a while, collecting flowers and meeting other wandering dragons as he went, Anhi began to grow tired of the life. His packs were full of flowers and he was tired of carrying them, but also tired of having no companions besides his loyal familiar Melinor. Eventually, after a few more days of trudging through the wildlands, he came upon a small band of shadow dragons making camp in a clearing. After introducing himself and sharing an abbreviated version of his journey, they welcomed him warmly--warmer than he expected, really, given that they were shadow dragons--and explained how one of their members got injured while out hunting. Anhi, being of the kind sort, told them that he knew a bit about medicine and offered to see to the dragon's wounds. ______ Once the dragon was healed, the leader of the small band, who introduced herself as Akash, asked him if he'd like to stay with them overnight, for extra protection since the surrounding area was notoriously dangerous. He agreed, and as the day faded into night, he learned all about the clan of the Andromidae, their stories and legends, and grew to quite like what he heard about them. They weren't like his old clan--no, they were a band of misfits who didn't expect anything from anyone, nor did they ask anyone for anything more than they were willing to give. To him, that sounded like heaven. ______ The next morning, as they were packing up camp and Anhi was helping, Akash asked him if he would like to join their clan as a healer, since they didn't have one yet, and he'd already proven himself adept in the science. He shook his head, saying he wasn't that good at medicine and was really more suited to lead botanist, or something. But Akash just laughed and put her clawed hands on his shoulder. "We have someone who can tech you," she said, grinning. "His name is Orpheus, and he's read more books than the entire light flight combined. He doesn't practice medicine, but I'm sure he can teach you." And that was that. |
