Battle theme: insert song here
Sean-Floris never saw them struggle though- money did make a lot of things far easier for the couple. They spend most time together, either relaxing in their spacious mansion, planning things to do in the future, paying the young pearlcatcher's grandfather a visit or traveling somewhere exciting. Life was never dull.
One thing though, that the pearlcatcher never understood as a hatchling is why his parents addressed him as ‘Sean-Floris’ instead of using his actual name. His mother often told him it was due to the family’s ‘cursed blessing’. She also went by a fake name. She explained that her true name carried a magical property, and that those who would say it would be granted wealth. Sean-Floris wanted to try it, but his mother warned him that it would hurt a LOT- and shorten the small dragon’s lifespan.
Sean-Floris wasn’t as eager to try after that, though the temptation never really completely left him.
It should come as no surprise that Sean-Floris’s mother died young. She had used her cursed blessing so often, that she was destined to die at a young age. However, the woman died with no regrets, leaving behind a son who carried a curse, a mate who had never truly loved her and a mourning father who had refused to make use of the family ‘blessing’. Though Sean-Floris’s father had never truly loved his mate- only becoming her mate to benefit from her wealth- he did do his best to be a supporting and loving father. Sean-Floris though, saw right trough that- saw himself as nothing but a tool the older male could use to justify his behavior- to somehow make up for how he had been.
The young pearlcatcher was having none of it, and eventually left to find his own way in the world.
Life from that point onward became… quite a bit more difficult. Though Sean-Floris worked hard (determined not to use his gift) it seemed as if he was always short on money, and his problems became less and less easy to solve. The thought of using his ‘cursed blessing’ became almost impossible to ignore- and finally Sean-Floris caved in.
The pain of the experience was enough to cause Sean-Floris to black out, but when he woke up again he was clutching a rather interesting-looking gemstone close to his chest. Though the pearlcatcher wasn’t sure of it’s worth- he knew he had to sell it.
Imagine the suprise on his face when the gem sold for enough treasure to sustain the pearlcatcher for years! Life became a lot easier after that, the money he got from the sale enough to allow for Sean-Floris to live in comfort and rarely if ever having to actually do something like forage.
The pearlcatcher couldn’t help but ‘waste’ a lot of money on trivial things though, and helping those he saw struggle financially. This obviously depleted his funds quite quickly, and soon Sean-Floris was faced with a dilemma.
Either he’d use the cursed blessing’s power again and live a short life filled with wealth, or he’d chose to grow old in what could be considered ‘poverty’ to most. Not having many friends, and knowing his mother had adviced him to make the most out of life, Sean-Floris chose to do the former.
Life’s too short to not live it to it’s fullest.
Besiiiides...
I've accepted that at this point, I can only live my life in one of two ways:
I can be openly selfish, and spend my life seeking riches and be forgotten soon after i die.
I can become a saint- spending my money to help everyone and be remembered for all eternity.
I may be selfish
I may not be generous at all
But I...
I will destroy myself so I will forever be remembered as a hero.
He will decide how it ends.

art by me :D | Sean-Floris is rich, VERY rich. His loving parents raised him with the best intentions- gave him what most hatchlings could only dream of. Both the pearlcatcher’s parents were young though- barely adults and already burdened with the responsibility of taking care of a hatchling. |
