━━ about ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
" do you truly believe the world is a good place? ... i see. i wish i could believe that, too. " ... sage was "born" in a factory dedicated to producing dragons that looked, spoke, and acted exactly the same. they were surrounded by others who looked exactly like them for much of their life, to the point where they began to lose their sense of self - their muddled sense of identity dwindled to the point where they even forgot their original name. in fact, there were times in sage's early life when they began to question whether or not they were truly a dragon. thoughts like that take a toll on you. even when sage was finally out of the factory ( not enough space left to accommodate dragons, and not enough money to buy satisfaction with ), they felt... confused. lost. where would a dragon like them go, one without a passion, a personality, a sense of self? ... they drifted for a while. passing from clan to clan, getting just enough nourishment to ensure that they lived to see another day. another day of wandering, another day of watching and listening but never speaking, only observing the other dragons with their bright words and painfully genuine smiles. they'd always heard that the outside world was beautiful, full of color and happiness. in their time travelling, they had seen much of the former. but where was the happiness all those tales had promised them? no matter how hard they looked, no matter how many bright, colorful dragons they were surrounded with, they could not find it for themself. and so, they withdrew into themself. convinced happiness and bonds were a thing they would never be familiar with, sage shut themself away. they told themself those were things they would never understand. experiences they would never obtain. most of all, they told themself that they were fine with that. they were fine with that. they repeated it to themself, over and over and over, until the aching of their heart slowly withered away into numbness. until they no longer had a heart left to give. ... a flower grew one day. they stopped to watch. the bud grew tall and confident, its petals unfurling into beautiful blooms of ruby red. despite their long-hardened heart, when they gazed upon this young flower, they felt... something. the idea of life in such a beautiful form, from such humble beginnings, was astounding to them. even if it was just a single flower, doing what nature told it what it was destined to do. a flower that, despite there being hundreds of similar flowers surrounding it, was still able to bloom so beautifully. they took the flower with them, carefully moving it to a small, decorated pot. they searched for a place that would allow them to plant and watch and be alone as they wished, and eventually came upon this inn. this strange, isolated inn, filled with nothing but dirt and weeds that nobody particularly enjoyed looking at. the receptionist agreed to let them stay and grow whatever they wished, so long as it did not harm guests. and sage agreed, happy that they had finally found a place of their own. they remain in the garden. planting, watching, thinking. sometimes a visitor will pass by, and if they happen to converse, sage will at one point ask a single question. no matter what the visitor answers, they will receive a single, unchanging reply. |
After a long journey, Sage returned home on 06/02/22 - with her original bio intact no less. Thank you Ronnaculus for sending her back!
I'll edit Sage's lore to fit my current tastes... someday.
