Antiope’s favorite activity, other than doing her job, was talking, getting to know clients and clanmates, gossipping about famous dragons as news reached the clan. She often rambled simply to fill up the empty air hanging around her. She talked to herself quite often. Not for the first time, she thought that she was a good fit for Zerila, who was much more quiet by comparison. She preferred to speak with flowers.

But when Antiope wasn’t spending time with Zerila, she was planning events big and small to keep Skyloft’s residents and their visitors entertained. Birthday parties, weddings, festivals, feasts--you name it, Antiope could plan it. She often conspired with Mung Daal for catering, Zerila for flowers, and Breia and Chisko for music entertainment. Antiope could transform the breezeway from simple signposts to a Crystalline Gala wonderland in a day.

She was not without her secrets, though. Antiope had moved from clan to clan ever since she was old enough to make decisions for herself. Some blatantly cast her out, and others ostracized her until she got the hint. And then she’d pick up her belongings and fly elsewhere, until she could find a place to call home. Between lovely Zerila and energetic Sveta, she hoped Skyloft would be the last one.

____Old habits died hard. Antiope was intimately familiar with the phrase in more ways than one. She needed to speak less and listen more. Stop jumping to conclusions. Stop burning bridges she knew she could save if she just paid more attention. It always ended like this. Every relationship broken, every move caused by her rash impulsivity. Antiope wanted this clan to be hers finally, a place to call home.

Before she met anyone else, she met Lelune. Though beautiful and skilled and kind at first, Antiope quickly learned that Lelune hid a snake’s personality. The changes were subtle, ranging from a sickly sweet backhanded compliment to open jealousy. Antiope needed to escape before Lelune really exploded and causes serious harm. But Lelune would not let her go quietly. It would take something stronger than a bouquet to cut Lelune off. . . .

____As much as Antiope loved spending time with Sveta, she was a poor fit for a librarian. Any time a dragon wandered in, Sveta would pop up like a jack-in-the-box, chattering until the poor dragon found what they were looking for and rushed out. Aside from that decision, Antiope adored Sveta. She was the only dragon who could match Antiope’s number of words spoken in a day.

Antiope only dropped by the library to get Sveta out. The spiral would leave August in charge, as the library was next to the tailor’s shop. Antiope would follow Sveta as she looped and arced in the sky, yelling around the bugs in her teeth. Snacks for later, Sveta would say. She couldn’t help but grin when she watched Sveta above her. Seeing the little dragon above whoop with ecstasy was dizzying, and it filled her heart with peace.
