  • Dior •   No one knows where Dior came from, but no one can deny that his life has been full of disaster. As a hatchling he came to the clan in their shadowy domain, homeless and orphaned with strange, shining eyes, speaking words of warning. Within days the sickness the orphan had spoken of enveloped the clan, striking down many of its members. Some dragons blamed the young orphan, claiming he had brought the plague upon them. Upon his advice, the clan left. They wandered homeless, caring for their sick and burying their dead where they fell for many months before finding a home in the Icewarden's domain. The cold of the ice fields cooled the fevers of the sick, and no one needed Dior's confirmation that they were home at last. Some members of the clan continued to regard him with suspicion, but clan leaders Caici and Loisur brought him into their own home to be cared for. Dior tries to be happy with his new family, but the clan's suspicion lingers in his thoughts. However, as the months pass he is greeted with increasing warmth as the clan's savior, a title he greets with great misgivings. Despite his difficult beginnings, Dior began to find happiness in his clan. He met his darling mate Ilaria and was almost instantly smitten- for just a moment the weight of all their fates lifted off his shoulders, and he felt himself fill with brightness. He was elated by the hatching of their children, Alina and Zain, although he worries about them endlessly. He tutors Alina in the afternoons on how to use her inherited foresight, and wonders how Zain is doing in his new clan. When Caradoc came to the clan, Ilaria was first to see the chemistry the three shared, but Dior was quick to come around. In Ilaria he found peace; in Caradoc he finds security, a sense that any storm could be weathered. Between his two mates he finds himself well supported, and can sometimes be seen leaning companionably against one of them gazing into a particularly pretty sunset. Dior usually isn't very demonstrative, but between Ilaria's gentleness and Caradoc's unwavering support he finds himself engaging in more displays of fondness. |
