Biography

ego_72698.png

I never saw the receptionist at his desk after I checked in. It was strange—I remember walking in and there he was, sitting with a pen already touched to paper, smiling softly at me. He said hello in a gentle voice that made every nerve in my body relax. Instinctively, I thought. Unwillingly.

It made me glad I could never find him again at that desk, but a pang of guilt would strike me whenever the thought crossed my mind. I didn't know why. The receptionist was a stranger to me, yet something in the back of my mind prevented me from holding ill will towards him.

The baseless affection I felt was frightening.

I only encountered him once during my stay. It was when i was feeling restless, frustrated, wandering around the place's endless hallways where I never saw hide nor hair of any other "guests". He was standing idly outside an empty room.

I knew that room was empty because I checked it myself earlier. I knew the entire hall was devoid of life save for me and him.

He greeted me softly, and again, I felt myself relax. I felt myself go on edge because of how immediate that relaxation was. It was bewildering to be around him, watching myself act unreasonably affectionate towards someone who my mind was screaming that I did not know. Like I was nothing but an insect drawn to a fragrant, artificial flower.

He felt like an old friend, even though I'd only spoken to him twice. I wanted to relax around him. I wanted to tell him all the burdensome secrets I kept. I wanted...

I remembered I didn't even know his name.

I asked—

"Why is this place so big if there's no one here?"

He cocked his head curiously. As his hat shifted with the movement, I realized I couldn't see a single glint of light in his eyes. Those gentle, airy green eyes, the trademark playful green of those of the wind, but he was not of wind. This I was sure of.

And what he said next convinced me he was not of any place in this realm. Not for the words themselves, but the eerily genuine, questioning tone he spoke them in—

"Are inns not meant to be spacious to accommodate guests?"

The words of a monster trying to disguise itself in a world it didn't understand.

—unnamed guest.

I made a huge effort not to pick dragons right from the first page, but i couldn't resist picking Receptionist ;;
First of all, i thought he was using an accent at first, and upon noticing that was his constellation shining through the unearthly grasp, i felt so impressed. Never noticed how grape constellation could look so good! Also, the peacock give his wings an extra layer of texture/depth that i love. The way the grasps look like an extension of the darker parts of his body is really charming and somehow a little bit scary too.
Overall, i just love how everything ties together to make a really unique and mysterious look <3
