Biography

The Magnolia: Leadership

“There is a common tale told in the Everbloom Gardens, one that’s been passed on from parent to hatchling for generations, of the Gardens’ first queen. Once a warrior that had fought tooth and claw to make a name for herself in her traditional wildclaw clan, it is said she grew tired of the anger and bloodshed. She started a new clan, a kingdom in the middle of peace and prosperity in the middle of the wild jungle. According to this myth, the Gladekeeper was so moved by this that she gifted the queen the first ever magnolia tree. In the Standardized Flower Telegram System, the magnolia symbol represents a clan’s leadership.

The magnolia flower is distinguished by the number of petals, and it is a common pairing to other symbols. The specifics often differ from clan to clan, depending on their specific hierarchy, so be sure to know the structure of the clan you’re visiting when attempting to interpret this symbol.
  • Four petals: The four-petaled magnolia is generally used to denote something that is official clan business, but isn’t coming directly from the clan’s political leaders or policy-makers. This may be used by clan merchants, event organizers, messengers, etc.
  • Six petals: A six-petaled magnolia may represent lower-ranking leaders or nobility; where this line is drawn will vary greatly, and clans with detailed hierarchies may completely restructure the petal system to better represent each individual rank.
  • Eight petals: Eight petaled magnolias usually represent the military of a clan. This petal count is often paired with the wolfsbane symbol to signify that civilians or lesser ranked clan members should not proceed.
  • Ten petals: This symbol indicates the very top of the clan’s leadership - the likes of kings, chiefs, presidents, or council leaders.”
