Elemental Egg Plush Project! (0/11)
FAQ (please read!)
"What materials are you using?"
Each egg is made with fleece, stitched with all-purpose thread, and stuffed with polyester fiber. I don't really keep track of brands unless I keep the packaging, sorry! The trinkets inside the eggs are mostly made with scrap fabric we have lying around, as well. If I use a different material for any of them, that will be covered in the post(s) detailing the egg's process.
"What kind of sewing machine do you use?"
I sew everything by hand. I rely too heavily on touch to use a machine at this point.
...and they scare me.
"What will you make after the last egg?"
I'll definitely be taking a break first, but this won't be my last FR-themed sewing project! I probably won't make Bogsneak and Nocturne eggs due to their complexity, but they might be a fun project to come back to when I've developed my skills. If I was feeling ambitious, I'd love to make a real-life version of my lair's living doll, Snugglebuddy!
"How much did it cost to make each egg?"
Trust me, you don't want to know.
"Can we submit our own patterns for eggs?"
If you've got a sewing pattern/method you'd like to use for making eggs, feel free to post it here for feedback and discussion! If you're using an off-site link, please include the image itself in your post! I'm not using anyone else's patterns for this project, but they might be useful for anyone else.

- "Why Flight Rising eggs?"
- Without going too off-topic, I have always struggled with new projects if I can't guarantee a perfect result on my first try. First drafts give me unbearable anxiety, so practicing new skills on something without actually "finishing" it has always been a huge barrier for me. Among other things, I've had a hard time learning embroidery, patterning, new stitches, etc. for this reason. On top of all that, sewing a new plush is something I've wanted to do for years.
So, when my most recent birthday rolled around, I resolved to try a long-term sewing project in the hopes of cracking down on my perfectionism. I wanted something with enough variety to try new things and keep my attention, but similar enough that I didn't have to start from absolute scratch for each item. You can see where that train of thought led me!
Each egg comes with its own unique challenges for translating them into 3D objects, which means that I'll have to experiment somewhat in order to get them right.

- "How big are the eggs?"
My main criteria for the eggs were "soft," "weighty," and "exquisitely throwable," so I kept that idea in mind when I made my prototypes. The basic egg pattern is about SIZE tall, . I'm certain you could modify the measurements to make bigger or smaller eggs! A teeny tiny nest of little ones would be pretty cute.
