In the centre of the clan's territory, there is a glade; a small clearing protected by thick, nigh-impenetrable foliage, naturally woven together into a barrier stronger than any wall of brick or stone. And in the centre of the glade, there exists the being known as Palla: eyes shut, face blank, skin so densely adorned with leaves and branches that it is impossible to tell where plant ends and flesh begins. Their feet rest lightly on the ground. Their eyes may be shut, but they are watching. From every tree, they feel; from every weed, they hear; from every budding flower, they observe their domain. And all who look upon them know... this creature is no dragon. Perhaps once, long ago... but no more. An aura of danger surrounds them, but they are not hostile. Indeed, the feeling they emit is less what one feels when confronted by an aggressor, and more like the feeling when wandering alone in the forest... some primal fear of a hostile world where only the strong survive. But Palla is not hostile. Their gentle smile assuages some dread. Truly, they only want what is best for their clan and their home... and there will be no problems, so long as visitors pose no threat. |

Most of their time is spent alone, deep in meditation. They rarely leave their forest grove; they rarely even move, except for the rustling of their rich, verdant leaves and the gentle whisper of their breath, which seems to echo the slight breeze, or perhaps summon it. They do not eat. They do not sleep. They do not seek out company or entertainment; they do not seem to show anger or fear, even in response to the direst news. Few can remain long in their company - not, however, because of their eeriness. Rather, their presence has a weight to it that few can bear for long. Fusce placerat nec neque quis pharetra.
