She was my first OC and definitely my most prominent. Her colours are red, gold and black; reflecting her passion and opposing aspects of her personality. Her main colour is red, a long-time favourite of mine due to its representation of passion, determination, love and sometimes anger. Her animal is the tiger (specifically the Siberian tiger) because of its fierce reputation, but really is just a cat on the inside. Finally, her element is light. I’m not sure why I made her light, but to me light is the beginning and she was my first serious OC and perhaps it is representative of this. The sheer power of light has always intrigued me and while Skarlette may not be the most powerful, she definitely isn’t weak.

Her current family consists of Sylva (Adoptive Dad), Cyan and Cerulean (Adoptive Mom and Uncle Mom), Cerise, Citron and Chartreuse (Adoptive Brothers), Cadmium (Adoptive Cousin), Snow (Adoptive Grandma) and Shadow (Adoptive Grandad)- all of same species as she is Tato (adoptive child of sorts)? RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Falco (now considered a part of the family) PERSONALITY: Stubborn, opinionated and clingy, Skarlette is one of the more passionate members of the family. When she isn’t following her beloved around she will be seen with another member of the family helping around the house. For a period of time she was sullen and isolated, being the first recruited into the War. Her past does not affect her as strongly as some of the others, showing her inner strength. She is faithful and loyal, although known to back out of various situations. She also hates spiders…with a passion. She also has a very dark sense of humour. HISTORY (briefly): Born to a family that she has long since forgotten Skarlette was taken at a young age by the dragon lord Breezeskimmer to avoid the upcoming war. Her friend was taken along with her but died at the turning ceremony. Skarlette stayed for years with the dragon, but refused to be turned into a Draconid Shifter due to witnessing her friend’s death. Eventually when she was old enough she decided to take the step and perform the ceremony, earning the scar over her left eye. She stayed with Breezeskimmer for a few more years, learning her powers and her destiny until the next member of the unit was turned, and that was Sylva. Together her and her new family are tasked with not only restoring the long-forgotten peace between dragons and humans, but also helping the dragons win a war against an unseen force in 1000 years. WARS (to avoid confusion): The first war described was a war in the human world between humans. No one is sure how it started but eventually it spread across the globe and many countries were involved. However, Skarlette and her family are being trained for another war in 1000 years. It is a different war fought between the dragons and an unknown enemy foreseen by the prophets, and will be fought in the realm of the dragons. Some may think it is ironic that the family has been pulled from one war and being shoved into another. In fact some of them do think that, but they know what they signed up for and willingly train under their Dragon Lord. ABILITIES: Skarlette, being a dragon of the element of light, has the ability to produce and manipulate light and use it as a weapon. However, this ability is taxing and eventually it does run out. Leaving Skarlette powerless and drained of energy, and if in dragon form she will immediately morph out, no matter how high off the ground she is. Furthermore, being only an amateur dragon elemental, Skarlette (as well as the others) has some issues with controlling the light, especially in her human form. Often accidentally letting off beams of light when hiccupping or sneezing, many walls were vaporized in the early days. Like the others her elemental and morphing abilities are drawn from her blood. In the turning ceremony, a shifter will mix their blood with that of a dragon Lord/Lady, awakening the abilities within them. However, abilities are not infinite as they are linked to the blood and energy levels. But abilities can be recharged through consumption of raw materials (in Skarlette’s case its materials that absorb light, like clay) or exposure to said element (so sunbathing). In her human form she likes to train with a double bladed axe ADDITIONAL NOTES: She has forgotten her old family for the most part and is very grateful for her new one. Being the first one there she has seen all the dynamics build and change over time. She is also the only member of her family that can speak the language of the dragons. SPECIES: Half dragons, now known to the few who know of them in the scientific community as Homosapiens therianthropos draconidae, are an elusive species. Any information gathered is pure speculation taken from observation and brief interviews conducted, as well as research found from scrolls of ancient times. This sub species is created, or ‘turned’, and cannot be born. A human must be taken to perform a ritual that involves the process of changing the blood. Briefly recounted, the ceremony must take place within a sacred cave with a dragon lord present. Blood must be drawn from both dragon and the chosen human and mixed before consumption. The chosen one must consume the blood mixture, but beforehand must be made aware of risks. The potency and overwhelming nature of the pure dragon’s blood burns as it courses through the veins of the human and overpowers the blood of the chosen one. A half-dragon does not turn full dragon immediately, but the ability must be drawn out, along with the elemental ability, often through training. Form, colour and element are drawn out through training. It is thought that all of the above are linked to something with the personality or the chosen morpher. Training a morpher has a large fear and stress component. For example, beginning with a simple ‘cliff run’ others that have the abilities already learned, or a dragon lord, will chase the new morpher towards a cliff. The reaction of adrenaline with the new dragon blood will activate it, if enough adrenaline is present, and it will compel changes in the new morpher. The morph is rarely completed all at once on the first try, instead bits and pieces; such as tail, teeth or wings, would form first. The new morpher would often fall from the cliff. If their wings had already formed, they are able to glide to safety. If not, their fear would increase, forcing more changes. Of course, the brain subconsciously pleading for wings to form also helps. If that does not work either, other dragons would be on standby for a pickup. The Full form is a more recognized form, of an actual dragon. The human turns fully reptilian and no recognisable human features remain. Flight and elemental controls are optimal in this form, making it perfect for combat. However, it takes a lot of elemental energy to reach this form and if that energy is exhausted this form will reverse, turning the morpher back to human. This often provides a major problem if the half dragon is flying at the time of morph reversal. At the time of morph reversal, the morpher can only hope it happens in a safe place. At this time, an elemental recharge is needed, where the morpher will need to completely surround themselves with their element.
