Vrulcyr was neither male nor female as a sword, but when she became a dragon she became, at least biologically, female. She doesn't care much about what pronouns are used for her but generally refers to herself in the third person using female pronouns, as that's how swords are often called anyway.
BIOGRAPHY
"Vrulcyr" means either "the thirsty one" or "the drinker of light and/or blood" in the ancient tongue of demons. The language is long lost, but the runes remain inscribed upon her.

She is a dragon who used to be a sword. Or was it the other way around? She can't exactly remember, although she does know that Lucan was the last to wield her. She was shattered in a battle against Glacia and her allies, and has been sleeping since. No-one is quite sure what happened to the pieces, or what it would mean if she were to be re-forged.

Before the breaking...

Vrulcyr has been at Lucan's side since he found her. While his plans are meticulous and grandiose machinations to achieve his goals, her behaviors are driven by caprice and basic instinct.

She's nearly always hungry, and thirsty. The thing she thirsts for over all else is dragon blood, and she has no qualms doing what she must to get it. She often behaves in an oddly naive manner for one who is thousands of years old, not seeming to see any sort of moral line between good and bad but skipping between both as she pleases. Even Lucan has trouble curbing her worst impulses. Still, she does her best to serve him, and serves him well: It was she who helped him to learn the ways of the plague, and who helped him slay many of those who tried to stand in his way.

As a sword, she had the ability to help or hinder her bearer, and drink from those they slay to enhance their powers. Lucan once created a ritual, centered upon her as the key, to stop the sun and moon in the sky at the moment of an eclipse so they could plunge the clan into perpetual darkness, but that's a story better told another day....
