The way he sees it, the gold is a perfectly fair payment for a bit of entertainment. What does it matter if the yarns he spins are true or not?

An urchin and a scamp, Buirkan is a sweet-talker. He's a skilled pickpocket, but his preferred livelihood is to invent an outlandish sob story and convince passers-by to hand over their gold willingly. His good looks and his easy laugh win them over, and more often than not his marks go merrily on their way, never realizing that they've been swindled.

He's not as naiive as he appears - having the favor of such an influential broker gives him a certain layer of protection in Cerar Oriya's seedy underbelly. Jarkiv would sell him out if it became profitable for him to do so, of course, but that's just the cost of doing business with the Spider.
