Biography
Anastasia, the Lone Descendant.
You somehow find yourself at the mouth of yet another den. By the dim golden light coming from inside, you manage to make out the silhouette of a dragon. A second later, she turns toward you, before tapping the lamp beside her a couple of times with her claw, a soft ringing sound resounding through the room. Suddenly, the room is flooded with light. As your eyes adjust, you're met with the sight of dozens upon dozens of beautifully detailed art pieces. Most are only partially finished. Anastasia sets down the paintbrush she is holding carefully and turns to look at you. She tilts her head to the side a little before doing a complicated gesture you've never seen before with her left talons and dipping her head in greeting. "Greetings, stranger. I've not seen you around before. My name is Anastasia." Her accent sounds different from any you've heard before, and she continues to gesture almost constantly as she speaks. "It is pleasant to meet you." The sides of her mouth curl up in a smile. "If you wish to purchase an art piece, please let me know."
Anastasia was the heir to the throne of an ancient, isolated and powerful kingdom named the Tang Dynasty. One day, while Anastasia was out on her first solo hunting trip (an old tradition in her clan. When a dragon comes of age, they are sent out for their first hunt on their own. The amount of food and treasure they bring back is said to signify how successful they will be during the first part of their adulthood) and she returned several days later to her home in ruins and her clan destroyed by an enemy clan, who sought the vast riches that the Tang Dynasty owned, and the respect that they would receive after bringing down such a powerful kingdom.
Anastasia fled far from her old kingdom, snatching up what precious little heirlooms and tokens of her past remained at her home. She traveled as far as she could from her home, paranoid of members of the enemy clan killing her if they found out that she was still alive. Eventually, after moons of aimless traveling, she met a bookish fae dragon by the name of Kronos in a dusty old tavern and they struck up a conversation. Eventually, they turned to the topic of the Tang Dynasty, which Kronos expressed a considerable interest in. Anastasia decided to indulge this friendly stranger, revealing to him her roots and how she had come to be where she was. Kronos was fascinated, and he invited her warmly to stay in the clan so he could find out more, as she was the only known survivor of the underhanded attacks that lead to the utter destruction of her clan and family. Anastasia, exhausted from many moons of traveling, agreed and Kronos brought her before Balthasar, who gladly accepted her into the clan.
Anastasia's clan was one that was very well known for the masterpieces they were able to create, with knowledge that had been passed down through generations. She, like her ancestors before her, was taught to create beautiful pieces of art, including (but not limited to); paintings, sculptures, pottery and clothing. She gets along very well with her denmate, Reaper, partly due to their shared interest in art. Their relationship grows steadily stronger as time goes by. Anastasia treasures all of the family heirlooms she was able to scavenge from her old home, and refuses to part with any of them. Her den is full of beautiful pieces of artwork made by both her and Reaper. They often collaborate on their art. Anastasia is almost always happy to share her knowledge of her family's heritage with her clanmates.
She still often participates in traditions of her old clan, which is met with varying enthusiasm from her new clanmates, but more often than not the traditions will catch on, which makes Anastasia incredibly happy as she knows that at least some of her family's traditions will carry on in a relatively new and flourishing clan such as the Crimson Whisperers. She spent a lot of her first few moons with the clan with Kronos, delighted that he cared enough to write pages upon pages about her family's history, traditions, beliefs and knowledge.
As a previous heir to the throne, Anastasia was very well rehearsed in the history and traditions of her clan and was able to give Kronos lots of information about the Tang Dynasty, which he was absolutely ecstatic about. Anastasia is a very well mannered dragon, and is happy to share her work with others. She likes to make her opinion heard, especially when it comes to important clan matters.
The Tang Dynasty was very peculiar about their affairs, their mates and their breeding habits. Any hatchlings who weren't perfectly monochromatic were cast out of the family, disowned and forced to try and survive by themselves, or made into servants and not told of their connection with the royal bloodline. Anastasia was the only dragon in her clutch to meet the requirements set by her bloodline and thus she was deemed fit to rule. Unbeknownst to many, including Anastasia, her mother had illicit relationships with a servant in the palace, defying her own parents and the arranged marriage she had been forced into, to 'keep the bloodline pure'. Suitors were hand-picked by the royal family, to try and provide the most desirable results. Their dislike for brightly coloured dragons had been deeply ingrained within them for so long that they no longer remembered exactly why they disliked colourful dragons.
