What dragon understands the nature of dying than a dragon from the plague?
When a dragon is so unwell that the combined forces of Sandalwood, Devilbane, and Elturgard, they are passed into the care of Psychopomp. He cares for them diligently, day and night, whenever they need him. However he can ease their pain, he tries. He helps them eat, and drink, and is willing to read to them late into the night, or recount one of the endless little stories that he picks up. Every dragon, young and old that enters his care he makes certain to befriend, to get to know as well as possible.
As they edge closer to death, he stands a silent vigil, remains a constant companion even as friends and family flitter in and out of his part of the lair. He is their keeper, and he will mind them to the very best of his ability, until they slip away.
His job within the clan is very hard, both physically and emotionally taxing, but he wouldn't give it up for any other. He treasures the precious honour he has been granted, to be trusted with the last days or hours of a clanmate's life and lessen their suffering.
Psychopomp and Widow don't shair a lair space unless they are nesting or watching hatchlings. They share a mutual appreciation of the work the other does, and often spend much of their time together in companionable silence, unhurried and calm, which both find soothing.
