HAGGERTY

Haggerty is the clan's veterinarian, in charge of caring for injured or ailing familiars, as well as tending to the clan's livestock- goats and chickens, mostly. He likes his job; his acerbic personality had never played well with other dragons but animals don't care about bedside manner. All they want to be cured.

For a long time, though, Haggerty was the only dragon with any type of medical training within miles of the clan. An SSMC doctor stopped by a few times a year to administer vaccines and restock medicines, but all the day-to-day doctoring fell to Haggerty. He doled out cough medicine, bandaged scrapes, and hoped beyond hope that nothing would happen beyond his knowledge to fix. The day Cherry, an actual doctor, joined the clan was the best day of Haggerty's life. Finally, he is able to concentrate on his real job.

Lavinia tolerates Haggerty's sarcasm and understands that he doesn't mean to be mean; it's just how it is. The two are each other's closest friends and Haggerty even looks forward to making house calls for Pumpkin, her nekomata.

The answer to Haggerty's prayers: a real doctor to take care of the citizens of Square Toe. Granted, he probably wasn't anticipating a dust-allergic Tundra straight out of medical school.

CHERRY

SSMC doctors don't keep regular routes, but Darrin was more than often the one to visit Square Toe. Always sympathetic to Haggerty's situation, he arranged to 'forget' medical books in the town on occasion; by the time he came to get them back Haggerty had studied them enough to wear the pages out.
