Biography

His first days of sunlight were all but pleasant.

His scales flaked from the lack of moisture, his talons and paws ached from the rugged terrain, his throat parched and his skin cracked from the lack of constant water. His once functioning gills had only taken a few feeble attempts to breath in the oxygen from the non-existent water before forcing the Imperial to breathe through his lungs, the water that filled them beginning to burn uncontrollably until he coughed up every last bit. Salt stung and water burned his innards as his body adjusted all to quickly to this new terrain, a terrain he was already beginning to hate despite only being stranded for a few mere minutes.

The dragons- if you could even call them such a thing- had pulled him above the comforting waves after he became snared in their net, his struggling body being pulled up with numerous species of fish he had grown so accustom to eating. They insisted he not return to the water, to return to whatever city or province he belonged to. Why were they blind? Why did they not return him to his home? Nevertheless, he was forced to stay on the boat as his body readjusted, fitting the environment to ensure his survival.

When they had reached the docks and anchored down, the darkened and slightly enraged imperial made his escape, baring fangs and slashing talons at any attempt made to stop him from fleeing this horrid and land-dweller filled wasteland. It smelled- reeked of the scent of the dead flesh of other animals, reeked of aging fish and smoke as plumes of fire emerged from cooking pits. It was horrible compared to his home, but as he ran further from the town, further from the sea, he was beginning to realize he could never return.

Gills, having disappeared entirely from the side of his neck, webbed talons retracting to sharp and deadly ones, fins that once littered his body shifting to an annoying fuzz that got stuck to everything- he was changing to fit his new home. From the burn that still accompanied his lungs, he wondered if he could survive long enough to turn back to his waterborn self, if his body could handle near-death and shift back to what he once was; but the more he thought, the more he doubted. His thoughts were the only thing he had to himself now, the terrain unknown to him and his possessions all but lost to the sea, as he ventured further into the unknown.

His lack of understanding towards the native tongue of this above land left him a mute as he traveled to seemingly nowhere; his feeble attempts to communicate with the creatures of the wild he had come across only ending with bloodshed and remorse. His limbs had grown stronger from the passing weeks, his eyesight clearing ever so slightly and new abilities he had never considered becoming easier to access than he once had. His wings proved more useful than he imagined, the powerful limbs allowing him time above the earth to move at a greater and smoother speed; one that could only be matched by swimming.

His times in the air were short he still found comfort to the action as it was the only thing getting him off his feet so his sore paws could rest and even heal some before he continued on. Magic had become useful in more ways than he had used while under the waves, creating a map for when the wind was not blowing and forging items to make things a bit easier on himself.

Months had passed, his wandering soul travelling from territory to territory, drifting like a lost leaf in the wind to try a place to settle his aching talons. Time was not kind enough to him to grace him with the presence of the one he now called his companion, but a friendlier face showed itself during his time in the Acrane province. A fae by the name of Riot had stumbled across him in a half tired state, the small creature having enough bravery to speak with the once water beast in a some-what not panicked tone of voice.

"Are you alright, um... sir?" The Fae tilted his head as the Imperial glanced towards the creature- or at least where he could best tell where said entity was. His time above the sea was not kind to his eyes, the haze having grown thicker by every passing hour until he was completely rendered blind. When the imperial did not answer, the Fae took that as an opportunity to speak once more.

"Are you lost, by any chance?"

The same deafening silence filled the air before the Imp decided to shake his head slightly, the most he could do to answer as he did not know the proper vocabulary to answer. The response in itself seemed to brighten the spirits of the Fae, his wings shifting along his back before he pushed himself from his branch perch and hovered in front of the Imperial's face. Cet scrunched his nose faintly at the sudden noise but was quick to recognize it as the Fae that had spoken only moments before.

"Not much of a talker... ah? Well, if you're looking for a place to stay I'm sure our leader wouldn't mind letting you stay for a couple of nights." He seemed happy to offer assistance to another dragon, like this was something he did religiously whenever he ran into another wandering soul. For all he knew, maybe the Fae did do this to every stray dragon he came across. While the offer was tempting, he couldn't help but snarl slightly at how sudden the offer had come- red flags signalling the offer to be a trap or something potentially much worse. He did suppose if he felt too threatened he could just eat the Fae...

A rumbling sigh escaped him before giving a small nod of the head, the fae seeming to light up as his frills expanded before he took flight, "Well c'mon! I'll show you where it is!"
