SKRILL
Scavenger and Mercenary
Tearing your eyes away from the massive imperial, another pair of battered-looking dragons at the edge of the circle catches your eye. One, a surprisingly colorless, black coatl, hisses something at the mirror as he fixes metal claws onto his talons. "Are y' worried about goin' back home? Th' light fellows didn't look too happy last time they found you goin' through their trash." The mirror lets out a harsh laugh, but doesn't reply. "I don't know why th' were so upset. Called it 'desecration' or somethin'. It's jus' old rocks, I mean." At this, his partner bursts into laughter, and he glances at him, offended. "Well, 'm I wrong?"
Born and raised in the Scarred Wastelands, Skrill is the clan's local survival expert. He is tough and headstrong, dignified in his own right, yet hides a softer interior- he's great with hatchlings and loves entertaining them with stories of battles that, admittedly, might be a little exaggerated. Due to his birthplace in the savage, harsh plaguelands, he has a little bit of an issue with understanding things like "personal items" or "moralizing decisions". If he finds it, it's his, got it?
Hatched with ashy, colorless black feathers, Skrill was abandoned in the boneyards as a hatchling. He learned the rules of survival very quickly and became an adept fighter, using his claws and teeth rather than his magic to fight, and soon enough found a line of work in mercenary jobs, escorting travelers through the plaguelands.
Eventually, when the clan inhabiting the Cloudwatch Outpost was still young, their Matriarch hired him to protect them as they made their way to Dragonhome after one of her visions, hoping that it would be where they made their home. Though they eventually wandered back to the Windswept Plateau, defeated but still hopeful, Ari invited him to stay with them, paying him to protect them until they'd found a home. He decided that maybe they'd need a strong, experienced plague dragon to keep these weaklings safe, and plus, he didn't mind the slightly-more-hospitable landscapes he saw outside of his homeland. Eventually, after they began building the outpost, he decided to stay permanently.
His closest friend is Aveil, who is his battlemate and scavenging partner. Despite his harsh and serious nature, he loves anything soft, including his familiar, and collects them in secret. He would never admit this, though.
