Biography
(36)
It's been a long journey for Akil: she hatched as an Imperial, the daughter of two Imperials, in a Shadow nest; nested in both Arcane and Plague lairs; then arrived at the Solar Solar, where she slowly transformed herself from an Imperial with iridescent scales and shimmery wings to a Snapper with crystalline scales and rippling wings: the perfect Glitterdaughter, even if her birth element wasn't the same as Glittermom's.
As a warrior of the Solar Solar, Akil has acquired for herself sturdy armor, accenting it with a bracelet like Katyushka's and a headlamp like her father's; during the Brightshine Jubilee she exchanged the lamp for a crown like the Founders'. She has also begun to be followed around by a small chameleon, whom she was convinced was the daughter of her eldest son until she and Aurelius had a daughter of their own, at which point the chameleon's deception became obvious. (She's still being followed around by it and she still calls it Nephriteling, though.)
That daughter, Tanpopo, went to an Arcane clan; Akil's next two nests had two eggs each, all of whom dedicated themselves to the Lightweaver. The next nest had three eggs, who followed those four to the Lightweaver. Akil and Aurelius did not have another nest until Aurelius had become Thylacine-patterned, at which point they had four eggs, all Snappers. Bronze and Gold had their father's Thylacine pattern, and went to live in an Ice lair and a Plague lair, respectively; Copper and Silver had their mother's spines instead, and went hiking around the Promenade and in search of the Windsinger, respectively.
After Colorsday, Akil and Aurelius had a two-egg nest, Bernstein (Amber, one of the New Colors), and Honig (Honey, likewise). Both Snapper boys went to serve the Earthshaker. It was a moment of reflection for Akil: it was two years since her hatching, and in that time her mother had not had a second nest, whereas Bernstein and Honig were Akil's twenty-third and twenty-fourth children, respectively, from her tenth nest.
