Biography

Main Theme:
Ready, aim, fire

Damien wasn't always a vampire. He was born a weak tundra hatching, his fur not fully grown in and scales missing all over his body. He was a scaleless dragon, his clan calling them Bare Beasts. He was horrified to learn he'd need to keep himself safe almost all the time. Learning this, he made no plans to leave home. His birth clan knew how to tend to his kind, and how to treat their wounds. He was a scared little momma's boy. If even a spider was near him, he would run like his life depended on it. The clan grew annoyed with him, month by month. Soon, he was forced out, him being too much for them to handle on their own. They didn't leave him on his own though, sending him to another clan to keep him safe. When he got there, the clan wasn't what he expected. It was a medical clan, almost everyone a healer or doctor. They easily were able to take care of him, tending to his every fear and phobia. Soon he never left his room, having food brought him once a day. He often didn't move much and didn't mind not eating since he never felt hungry often. It was a life he loved, always feeling safe and cared for. One nurse he had he loved the most, a kind fae who was hard to understand at first. He learned how to speak to faes from her, and that using one's paws was not polite to do to speak fae.

One night, something unexpected happened. A pack of different breeds of dragons attacked the clan. They claimed to be hunting for food but seemed to be killing the dragons. Damien was sleeping when this happened but woke to find a big black guardian looming over him. He had scarlet wings and yellow gems along his hide. Before Damian knew what was happening, the guardian bit his neck. Damian flinched, but it didn't hurt. The dragon let go, grabbing Damien and putting him carefully on his large back. Damien, who had never been awake this late, found himself falling back to sleep. When he woke up, the dragon from the night before was staring him in the face, his grey eyes filled with worry. Damien yelped, backing up and letting out a hiss. Damien paused, having never hissed before. the dragon noticed his confused look, taking a mirror out of a bag he had on him. He scooted it over to Damien, who slowly made his way to it. As he looked in, he saw nothing. He hissed louder, feeling his fur stand up. The guardian walked over, showing he too had no reflection. Damien stared at him, growling. the tundra demanded to know why he bit him and took him. The guardian blinked, saying he only did that because of how sick and weak Damien was.

Damien growled, shaking his head. He explained that he was a dragon called a Bare Beast, born with little to no scales or fur. the guardian nodded, understanding that, but that the fur he did have was dull, his skin too pale, and his body reeking of sickness. Damien glared, seeming to not care what the dragon had to say. the guardian sighed, doing two more things. He told Damien his name was Kain, and that he would leave him. Damien curled up, not caring what he had to say. When Kain left, Damien sneezed. He blinked, rubbing his nose. He then sneezed again, seeing his fur had been ticking him. He blinked very confusedly. Normally he'd be feeling cold, but he felt fine. He looked at the arm that'd be making him sneeze and stared. Instead of his usual skin and white patches of fur, dark black-blue fur was there. His claws were not greenish, but black and even strong. He jumped up in surprise, starting to look at himself. His wings were strong now as well, covered in black and red scales. He flapped them, hitting his head on the ceiling as he shot up. Damien rubbed his head, grunting. He then saw an open window and grinned. The tundra snuck out, climbing onto the roof. The sun beat down on his fur, making him a little hot. He blinked, thinking the sun should've killed him but chose to ignore it. He opened his wings and flapped them once again.

It was dusk when he finally returned, Kain pacing around Damien's empty room. Damien flew in, almost hitting Kain in the face. The guardian grunted, catching the tundra. Kain glared at him, Damien chuckling awkwardly. Kain scalded him, explaining how it's dangerous for a new vampire to go out on his own but Damien didn't seem to be listening. Kain hit him on the head, sighing loudly. He explained how vampires could be hunted down, their fangs selling for a pretty penny, and their blood considered able to make another dragon immortal. Damien looked shocked, nodding. Kain then led him to another room. A few other dragons sat around a table, an animal on each plate. Kain went to the head of the table, Damien taking an empty set. Kain gave a prayer to the Earthshaker, and other deities, before biting his food's neck. The other dragon's joined him, Damien blinking. On his plate sat a salad and a rabbit. Damien grunted, trying the rabbit. It wasn't bad, but he had some of the plants as well.

Soon Damien became apart of the vampire's clan, a trusted member. He became even Kain's right-hand man when it came to fighting for their tertiary. Damien and Kain fought about only one thing, expanding. Kain kept telling Damien it's only wise to keep a small clan, but Damien thought they should have more members. The other vampires chose not to butt in, it was the leader's choice. Finally, Kain gave Damien's plan a try. It was night, and a tiny clan had been building near their land. They were the perfect targets since they didn't have any neighboring clans. The problem was who this clan was. They were small, but most of their members were well-trained warriors. Damien watched as everyone was cut down, the dragons using clever tricks and brute strength to kill everyone. Damien watched the leader kill Kain. It was painful, very painful to see. He was forced to flee, but not before killing the leader's right-hand man. It almost cost him his eye, but he didn't care.

He walked for weeks, a hollow shell of who he was. Kain was gone, his mate who treated him like her son was gone, even their daughter who was like his little sister was killed. He had no home to go to, the manor burned to the ground. He cursed dragon kind, hate filling his heart. As he was close to losing consciousness, a fairy found him. Her name was Tatania, and she was a kind soul. She healed him, and asked him to join her. He didn't trust her at first, but then she spoke of making a place for non-dragon beings to live in peace and away from dragons. He liked this, agreeing to work with her. His only request was to work under her, but have his own clan. She agreed, thus the vampire founded his own pack. They work in the shadows of the other non-dragons, never interacting with them but protecting them. Damien has yet to ever fail to keep Tatania safe, killing anyone who bears ill will to her or his pack.
