Praeg is a very "get down to business" type of dragon. She was given life by the Stormcatcher for a Purpose, and she won't let anything get in the way of that. They are rather antisocial, only truly preferring the company of Bylii, and her reclusive nature means that few of the Chasm dragons have met her face to face. Those who do know her, however, hold her in their highest regards. For a time, the founding duo spent time with harpies, during which Praeg picked up the habit of wearing a mask. As they grow less defensive and more comfortable with who they are, they hide behind it less often, letting their face be seen. In gratitude for the future the harpies provided, Praeg makes sure that beastclan will always have a home within the Fulgurite Chasm. A vast canyon, desolate and hot, sat beneath a dark and crackling sky. Roiling storm clouds clashed with great plumes of ash at the border of Lightning and Fire, casting a deep shadow over the landscape that was only illuminated by the violent flickering of lightning as it churned in the clouds. Branching off from the main Carrion Canyon was a ravine that scarred the land, marking the separation between two territories. The Western wall of the gorge rose high with black rock and basalt pillars, and was topped with small metallic settlements where the dragons of Cinderslag had brought their tin shantytowns to the furthest reaches of the territory. To the East, unnatural blue-grey stone formed a sloping cliff, and aside from the skittering of small animals and the scant greenery clinging to cracks in the cliff face, appeared to be nearly devoid of life.
For a moment, the near constant rumble of thunder ceased and a tense silence fell over the landscape. Animals stopped in their tracks and turned their heads upwards, before rapidly scurrying for their burrows and cracks as if to flee from the receding tide that forewarns a tsunami. As the wildlife was still making for their shelters, the tension was violently broken as the very sky seemed to be ripped apart by the sudden presence of a massive bolt of lightning. It cut through the air with the power of a thousand roaring dragons, splitting apart to strike the cliff in two places just near the where the ground gives way to the sloping canyon. The heat and electricity of the bolts struck the ground hard, blasting much of the loose sand into the air and sending the tremoundous clap of thunder echoing through the canyon.
At the two points of contact, the sand had been instantly hardened into glass by the heat of the blast, silently stretching down into the earth in dual frozen effigies of the fractal lightning that brought them into existence. Loose rocks had been blasted away from the sites, leaving small fulgurite pillars protruding from the surface as the dust slowly settled around them.
Atop one of the pillars, the four piercing cyan eyes of a dragon opened for the first time. Though she had only come into existence mere moments before, she was already fully grown. Blinking the dust from her eyes, she lifted her deep purple head and breathed in the sharp air for the first time. This new dragon, straight from the will of the Stormcatcher, was filled with Purpose. But what it was, she did not know - she had no way of knowing, the ways of the world were so fresh and foreign to her. For a moment, she was overwhelmed by this drive she felt and the loneliness of having no one to help her. Her Purpose, it seemed, was lost.
Just then, the tan head of another dragon came into view as it was lifted up off its pillar by its owner. A lanky mirror with deep green wings stretched his legs for the first time and cautiously looked around to survey the electric landscape. As his gaze fell upon his counterpart, the two locked eyes, and knew that they both felt this Purpose together. It was shared in the air they breathed, still crackling with the electricity that bore them to this world, and though they still did not, could not yet know what this Purpose was, they understood that it was one they would find together.
The dragon started as she felt something pushing against her hindquarters. She turned to face her companion, who seemed to be urging her to her feet and making a series of encouraging chitters. Confused, she watched as the dragon took a few paces away, opened his green wings, and began to run parallel to the canyon. As he picked up speed, he began taking a few bounding leaps, allowing his wings to catch the air and glide briefly, before touching down to the earth and taking another leap. On one leap, he lowered one of his wings and glided in a semicircle so that he could turn to face the purple dragon. Before he reached the ground, however, he flapped his wings. With this simple motion, he seemed to bounce right back into the air just as if he had pushed off from the ground. As he skidded to a halt before her, she felt hope for the first time that their journey to the dragons of the world may, indeed, be feasible.
