Named after Happy, the exceed, from Fairy Tail. n_n
Elder of the clan | Flight instructor
A long-standing member of the clan, Happy is a bubbly helping hand who loves teaching others and raising hatchlings. Ever since he was a little dragon, he's loved flying and has since honed his aerial skills. He can often be found teaching hatchlings or young dragons how to fly or even giving tips to faltering adults. He and his partner Crystal have laid many nests together, but the only hatchlings of theirs who stayed with the clan were Mephysto and Zera. All the others went off to find new clans or support a deity (with, of course, a solid background in flying experience.)
Mephysto's four strong wingbeats displaced the air and sent him soaring upwards, but on the fifth flap, he was thrown off balance and tumbled back to the soft, grassy ground. "You've got to angle your wings back more after you take off. Lifting yourself is part of it, but going forward is also fairly important, you know," Happy said with a wink. Shaking the grass off his shoulders, Mephysto chuckled slightly. "Well of course I know that," he said, opening his wings again. He trotted forward, letting his feathers catch the air and propelling himself up and forward again. Happy analyzed Mephysto's flight pattern and landing sequence, which looked better every time the hatchling tried.
"You're learning great, but you couldn't stay in the air too long like that. Watch me and try to see if you can mimic my wings' motion." Happy leapt up, flapping and drawing his feet close to his body. To show Mephysto a professional flight sequence, he flew steadily in a straight line before dropping to the ground. Mephysto nodded and tried again.
"Good," Happy said, smiling. "You want to try currents and flying in place today, or would you rather wait till tomorrow?"
