ABOUT - » He looked up from the tome, his eyes stinging. He stayed up too late again, another sleepless night making notes and sketches of stingrays. He was close to finishing, only a few more pages and the tome would be filled, another to add to his library. Weariness had begun to overpower him, though, and it would have to wait for another day. Besides, Kian would be displeased enough about this all-nighter as it was. He stood, almost stumbling into one of his aquariums in the process and sending the fish within dashing to hiding places. He definitely stayed up too late. Moonlight streamed into the room, the only source of light he had. He had previously deemed lights unnecessary as he would only be working during the day, but overcast skies and late nights proved him wrong. He needed to get around to having someone install some. Slowly and carefully, he made his way outside. He pulled his mantle closer to him and shoved his arms into his coat in response to the cold winds immediately hitting him. He never quite adjusted properly to the cold environment, having spent his entire life in much warmer territories. At least it wasn't snowing. |
Exhausted and shivering, he walked back to the clan's main hub. His wings ached to fly, but he knew that doing so would be nothing but a bad idea. It was times like this he regretted being so avoidant and secretive of his work. Though more comfortable, it was incredibly inconvenient. On one hand, the privacy and proximity to a nearby lake was perfect for him. On the other, he was apparently incapable of planning ahead properly, leading him into situations such as he was in now.
Besides, the heavily wooded area the clan lived in was warm in a way. Warm, safe, and inviting, even though by all means it shouldn't be. Perhaps because he found his new family there. They knew little of him, and he knew little of them, and he preferred it this way. It was easier, and he found himself attached to his new home.
He found his nest, and nearly collapsed into it, relieved to finally come to a warm place to rest. He nearly missed the fact that Kian was already there, looking like he fell asleep waiting for Ryuu to come back. The other wildclaw woke from the sound of Ryuu trying to make himself more comfortable, startled and alert. He softened immediately upon realizing that it was just his mate and settled back down, craning his neck to murmur gentle scoldings in his ear. Ryuu huffed, eliciting a soft laugh from Kian as he curled around the paler dragon. Ryuu leaned into the contact, pressing his face into Kian's soft, warm fur, and sighed contentedly.
Their eyes closed and the pair fell asleep moments later, dreaming of starlit nights by the ocean together.

 NOTABLE RELATIONS -» Mate - Kian Kian is Ryuu's beloved, and the two would do anything for each other. Kian is the one dragon who Ryuu lets his guard down around, and the only one to really see him show emotions. The two are near inseperable, and Ryuu's one wish is to steal Kian away somewhere across the ocean where they can both be safe together. » Student - Hakumei Drawn to Ryuu's intense calm, Haku requested that he mentor him in order to help him control his own powers. Ryuu took him on, and at least once weekly the two work together to help Haku control himself better. Ryuu feels somewhat neutral about him, but does want to help him better himself. » Friend - Sidhara Sidhara and Ryuu's relationship began when he came to her for advice on how to deal with a particular sea spirit. He found that not only is Sidhara an expert when it came to the water-based occult, she also shared his passion for aquatic wildlife. They bonded over this fact, and they often share their notes on their studies of aquatic flora and fauna to help educate each other. |
 OTHER NOTES - » He refuses to speak of his past to anyone, and not even Kian knows what exactly happened to him. All anyone knows is that he showed up one day and was taken in as one of Aranda's many strays, and decided to stick around. » He brought with him his bubbling goblin, which he claims is a companion that he rescued from a shipwreck and has cared for since then. » Ryuu's illusionary magic functions by altering others' perceptions by tricking their senses. He often puts this to use to create a calming aura, and combines it with healing magic to be a very effective healer. He calls it the Koura school of magic, though no one else has ever heard of it. It is assumed to either be a forgotten school, or a small isolated school taught where he originally lived. He won't say which, if any, theory is true. » He dislikes violence, though forgetting that he can still be dangerous is a poor move. His illusionary magic can trick the senses so far as to be fatal, and he posses long, extremely sharp teeth that can be used in addition to his claws as more of a last resort move. » While still powerful regardless of location, he gains strength near bodies of water, and Ryuu near the ocean is a force not to be trifled with. |
