Biography
|
| Ferocious | Independent | Brazen | Momma's Boy |
The land-walker spoke to him in her strange guttural voice, she was slow, but the old traveler never tired. The last of her roving lair on her final trek back to the pillar of the world, this strange beast with her useless wings and thunderous voice led a young refugee from the lands of the Plague Mother. Her speech was as slow as her gait, and the young drake found himself running from one side of the dragoness to the other to burn off some of the energy which felt like electricity in his body. "You will find your own way, drakeling.” She warned him. “If you fall behind.” But the young dragon at her feet had simply growled back at her, baring his small fangs. That night, the lumbering dragoness had let her charge ride between the ridge scales of her shoulders. Exhausted, the wild stubborn hatchling had, in fact, fallen hopelessly behind. Years later, on the eve of his first flight his lair mother had reminded him of this as the dragoness who had never flown herself dolled out advice. “I know, I know!” The limber drake, eager to prove his prowess had barked, flexing his massive black wings far above her head. “Lift, thrust, kick, flap, I’ve got it….” He grumbled, when nothing he said seemed to phase her. Out on the flat of the plains he took a running start, he had to go far and fast to get himself into the air. One...two..three...and he leaped, beating his wings against the dusty ground until he felt air upon his claws. He tipped, leaning too far to the left, but smashed his tail downward beneath himself in order to rock himself into the air once more. As he greeted the clouds which had for so long mocked him, the aubergine drake roared his victory to the heavens and hoped that the sound reached the Stormcaller’s ears. He, had a score to settle. Earning his reputation had come far easier than it should have to the bold scrapper who never strayed far from the fangs of another. A snarl coming to his maw with the swiftness of a thundercrack. Damascus flew over the realm of the gods and grew stronger day by day. He hunted great sharks in the ocean as long as the breadth of his wingspan, and dove deep in search of soft bodied tentacle beasts. Touching his claws on land was optional, as the drake rode thermals and storm winds alike on an endless maiden flight. Until finally, the Stormcaller answered his challenge with one of her own. It was a lightning storm like none other he had ever seen, a blaze of technicolor light highlighting clouds as dark as a new moon’s night. Flying into the chaos, he flipped and churned in the waves of air above the water. His wings beat the rain, and he snapped, lashing out whenever a bolt would crash before his eyes. After all, the young drake had never been one to back down from a fight. |
