Biography

ZIxUbPT.png
A name of Aztec origin meaning
Medicine

The egg wasn’t supposed to hatch when the eclipse was receding. It was said nothing good ever came from an egg born in the shadows of an eclipse. The pup’s parents paced around the nest as they waited for the egg to finish hatching. A large crack had appeared in the egg a few mere moments ago. A noise of baby Skydancer appeared through the darkened sky. Purple eyes peered up at the dragons hovering over the baby as swirls of dark pink sparked in her eyes. The sky brightened as the eclipse passed by them as the Skydancer pup mewed before falling over as she was still in her egg. A smile appeared on her maw as her mother appeared before breaking the rest of the egg open.

“Hello little one,” she cooed before nuzzling the pup.

In the days that followed, Patli was known as ‘little one’ or ‘young pup’. Her parents weren’t quite sure what to name her as her personality hadn’t quite started to bud. The Skydancer pup didn’t seem to concerned by the lack of name as she chased the butterfly through the field of flowers. Her legs were stronger as she hopped into the air from the tall grass to try and catch the winged insect. She went to chase after it before making a noise as she tumbled through the grass. The pup cried to her mother before she was plucked off the ground by the scruff of her neck.

“Little one, do be careful.”

Patli stared at the aging dragon before her. It wasn’t her mother that had picked her up off the ground after tumbling into it. Grey appeared around the Coatl’s muzzle as a sign of age. The bones clinked together that were draped over her wings as they moved to to be in a more comfortable position. Patli stared at her once again before chirping happily. She was a happy Skydancer pup. Her eyes lit up in that dark pink color before the shadows seemed to shift with the pup’s emotions. The Coatl hummed.

“So, that’s how it will be.”

The shadows seemed to stop dancing as the Coatl covered her eyes. When she had uncovered them, Patli gasped as she saw the shadowy figures dancing around her.

“You will be able to do this, little one. Give it time.”
The Skydancer was ripped from the Coatl’s paws as her mother snorted at the aged Coatl. She placed Patli firmly on her back, between her shoulder blades, before she gave the Coatl a look.

“Do not cloud my daughter’s eyes with your words, witch doctor.”

The Coatl chuckled before she spoke, “She’ll be back. Things will happen, and she’ll want to learn. I’m sure she’ll be able to figure out how to heal others with her powers.”

As Patli grew older, her attention went to things that the other dragons tried to avoid. She would play with the bones. She would read them as if they were to tell of the future or how to heal a sick dragon. She spent days studying the different herbs and plants that would help a wounded warrior who came from a battle. She found her calling within the shadow of the Coatl that had helped her when she had tumbled into the grass.

“Patli,” the Coatl said as she slowly got off the perch she was on. “What is it you want to do?”

Patli ceased the shadows dancing around her before looking over her shoulder at her mentor. The Skydancer grinned before speaking, “I want to help others with all my power.”

“You’ll be ridiculed. Called a witch doctor,” the Coatl mused. “Is that what you desire?”

Patli stretched before yawning. She had this conversation with the female Coatl everytime she came for a lesson. Her answer was always the same, “Whether I am a witch doctor or not, if I can help others, then I’m willing to take on that burden.”

The Coatl smiled softly at the Skydancer. She had grown into a beautiful young Skydancer. Her feathers and fur were decorated with the bones that she had collected over her years. The skull that covered her face was placed on the grass beside her as she watched the butterfly skitter across the blades of grass. She was a content dragon at the moment.

Patli knew what she wanted to do in life even if it meant being ridiculed by others.
