An automaton left abandoned in the back of an old forgotten chapel. Children of the village knew they weren't meant to explore the chapel; its decrepit ceiling could cave in or the floor could collapse, but they explored anyway. An orphan girl discovered her, lying broken under years of dust. Using money she shouldn't have earned by gambling, the chips and cracks in her painted face were lovingly filled in with brass - left over from broken metalcraft - her eyes repainted to gleam, her cheeks once again rosy, as though she were alive.

The girl felt such kinship with the broken little doll, having herself been left all alone after her parents disappeared. She felt the need to make her beautiful again. An act of defiance, to prove that with tenderness and kindness, there is hope for anyone. So sincere was this act that the Divinity itself took notice, and It granted that doll a tiny sparkle all her own.
