Name origin: In Gallo-Roman religion, Arduinna was the protector/guardian goddess of the Ardennes Forest and region. She was identified with the Roman goddess Diana. The Main belt asteroid 394 Arduina, discovered in 1894, is named for Arduinna.

Traits/Associations: spiritual bond with wild creatures of woodland and water. Has an affinity with both the quiet of the deep forest and the calm waters.

Under the weight of the silence, they slumber
evanescent films of floating pale reaches
eerie glowing detritus-feeding fungi rings
and you sink along into the darkness, smoke
concealing their features, as the wings descend
steal past gills and vines, speak with
the unforgiving flow of life in the backwaters.

“Let them die,” wisdom reminds, gentle
as its father the beginning of all, yet her voice
remains resolute, and she thrives from
your touch, circle of dying faith.
“For you cannot sustain with your form
the Earth in their stead.”

So you remain, standing sentinel in shadow
with an enigmatic determination.
Only few ever sense your presence.
Yet they decay and are consumed, blessed with
a soul that feels the throes, whispering prayers
diffusing to you, the desire for endless dreams.
