The Boneyard is unforgiving. The only way to survive the unforgiving, is to be unforgiving. The clans of the Wasteland know this. What other flights mistake for brutality is simply survival. Kill or be killed. Hunt or be hunted. Do not trust outsiders, lest they turn out to be like you: willing to survive at any cost. It takes a lot to be deemed a monster in the Boneyard. She’s still young the first time she feels flesh give way beneath her claws, blood welling up in their wake. It is a curious sensation. Word travels fast in the Boneyard. There are a rare few merchants who dare to brave the barrens, and news is their most valuable commodity. Which clans have fractured under famine, and which are raising armies for war. What reaches of the wastes the mirror packs scour now. They speak of a newcomer amongst the lone nomads, cast out by one of the transient clans. Their patrol is attacked, and she pins one of the enemies down, reaching for its soft underbelly on instinct. “Her claws are stained red,” the merchants whisper, “but her feathers are pure white,” and this, at least, garners attention. To spill blood is easy. To do so cleanly, deliberately, is not. |

It parts so readily - “- with one single swipe -“ - sticky red spilling out - “- left for the vultures to pick apart.” The sound is… viscous. Unforgiving does not mean unfeeling. In the Boneyard, a dragon’s first kill of another is a rite of passage handled with the utmost delicacy. It is as a wound, one that must be treated properly in order to heal properly. “Shock is a normal reaction. It feels like a distant thing,” the clan leader says, but she does not feel distant. She is living in that moment, the way it felt for life to fail beneath her claws. She wants to feel it again. “They call her Bloodtalon.” And so the stories go. |

It is a laughable title. Since founding this clan, peace-sweet and soft, she has battled nothing more fearsome than an elk. Her claws itch with it at times.
But things are beginning to change.
The clan is thriving, their numbers growing. Trade in the port has exploded. They have food, and land, and wealth to spare. Scourge has always considered it something worth fighting for, but others will too, now.
She can’t wait.
