Lucan
OVERVIEW
Cold-hearted • Prideful • Calculating 
Lucan was born into a long line of royal blood. Since his youth, he has had the pride and ambition to match his pedigree. Unfortunately for him, he was not the first-born by any means, and thus was never destined to rule, if things had been left up to tradition. His lot in life should have been to bring honor to his clan and family by going to serve the icewarden upon reaching adulthood. However, Lucan was not the sort to let his fate be determined by others. Instead, he left the clan by the cover of night and did not return to the southern icefields for many years. When he did return, he was a changed dragon - in his time away he had studied with legions of the Plaguebringer, and in his journeys even stepped into the Shade itself in his search to escape not only his preordained life, but life and death themselves. His crystalline body had become scarred and warped by the rot and darkness, and he had achieved something like undeath, though it seemed to rob him of some of his life as well. The Lucan of old is gone, someone new walks in his place. And he brought some new allies along with with him. Lucan's return brought a new age to the clan - one they would come to call the Bloodwinter. His first act was to slay his elder brother and declare himself the clan's new arkhos. When many of the clan's members outright rejected this, Lucan met their resistance with cruel swiftness - he and his compatriots slew, exiled or imprisoned many, even those whose only crime was mere association with those who rejected Lucan. He outlawed the worship and traditions of the icewarden, demanding the clan pay tribute to the plaguebringer instead. When this threatened to break his new reign over the clan as more and more dragons left by the day, he unleashed a curse upon them - one that stole their their very lives away if they tried to leave the mountain. For those trapped, it guaranteed a long and empty life, imprisoned within the glacier. The whole clan was now to share Lucan's fate. And so, his rule was secure for many years to come. It was not until another betrayal came to fruition that he would be defeated. A humble egg, smuggled out and sent away, only to hatch one day and return back to her home... a fully grown guardian dragon named Glacia, who claimed that this clan she had never set foot in was her home - and her charge. What an embarrassment for Lucan, to be brought down by such foolish, self-important commoners as Glacia and her companions. Luckily for Lucan, they were even foolish enough to neglect finishing him off. Now he is reduced to whiling away his days as a wanderer, nursing old wounds, biding his time and plotting his eventual return to power. He is trying to gather followers about himself once more, under the banner of Bloodwinter, but so far his friends seem to be few and far between.
