Born Ced, the skydancer was always a cheerful sort, who enjoyed helping people and a cold winter breeze. Unfortunately for him, he was hatched in a time of great unrest, when a demonic god controlled the land through the possession of the royal family. Rebellions against this dark god were swiftly crushed, but a discontent people could not be silenced for long. Sooner or later, their cries for justice would be heard. He was just coming of age when it began; a new banner was raised by one Heim, an imperial who believed in justice and light. Ced was quick to join under his banner, for he, too, believed in justice, and doing what was best for the people. Unfortunately, caring for people was almost all he was good for; his skills with swords, lances, and the like were poor at best, and while he was quick to rise through the ranks and into Heim's closest, less kind tongues suggested this was only because anyone better suited had already been killed. For they were indeed on the losing end, and eventually they were forced back into one, singular desert fortress. The light of hope seemed all but snuffed out; with only a handful of defenders left, how could they survive a seemingly neverending onslaught? And then, a miracle occurred. It was said that gods descended that day, upon Heim and his chosen. A large imperial, who looked no older than Ced but whose eyes shown with the light of countless centuries, was the first to approach him, bearing one simple gift - a book bound in green leather, that raised a howling gale of wind when read. And, unlike all the swords and physical weapons he'd tried before, Ced was a natural at magic. The bond between them was instantaneous, for Forseti was also a lover of humans, and the winds, and music. Ced was absolutely starstruck, and when all was said and done he decided to rename himself after his patron god - Seti, meaning "Little Forseti." The two of them walked the same path, away from where Heim and his clans settled in light, to a region of the Windswept Plateau where a cold breeze was a constant, bringing in snow from the seas even when the rest of the Plateau was warm and sunny. For a long while, all was right in Seti's world, and gods and dragons coexisted in peace- And then, one day, an argument brewed amongst the gods, and with hardly a word, Forseti was gone. All that he left were his tome, and a weighty sense that he had not wanted to leave. Oh, Seti lived through it, certainly - but late at night, he often found himself wondering why. |
