Water. The only thing I could think of was water. Rushing in, trickling, dripping. Anything.

As my claws stumbled awkwardly over the rotten leaves and branches of the Tangled Wood, a small drop of clear liquid fell on my snout. Perhaps the world was taunting me, punishing me for leaving my clan. Maybe it was a bad idea for me to leave. I glanced downward at the ancient, heavy sword on my hilt. It crossed my mind that I could have left it in the Treasury. For some unexplainable reason, I had to bring it with me. Something about it made me want to. Compelled, really.

My young self tripped over a tree root and I collapsed among the foliage, my entire body aching for water. I struggled to keep my eyes open. I could feel creatures around me eyeing, assessing, approaching. I couldn't pass out. I couldn’t...in the Wood...
...
Something cold and wet went down my throat. As much as I ached for something to drink, my reflexes kicked in and I choked, bringing out most of my much-needed water out of my system. Finally opening my eyes, I realized that instead of gloomy Pines in front of me, I was in a clearing surrounded by...Starwood trees? The unusually soft grass that scattered itself on the cool ground was sparse but crystal white, and above me, a strikingly beautiful, dusky sky dotted with hundreds of celestial lights.

I took notice of the figure right on my front and center. A petite Skydancer about my age was shaking water off of her feathers in annoyance. "It's right there," she gestured to the large ceramic bowl of crystal-clear liquid between us. Out of desperation, I grabbed the bowl in my claws and savagely drank it all up. "Try not to spit it out again."

I gulped up my last fill and went back for the fresh, Starwood air. Breathe in. Breathe out. "So...who’re you?" I asked, curious.

The Skydancer stared at me for a while before answering. Before I could utter another gawky half-word, she replied blankly, "Raven. You?"

"Uh, I'm Stor-..." I sheepishly looked down at the weapon that was still with me, running through a list of names I had thought of before leaving my previous clan. They weren't good at all. Something that sounded nice was all I need. Something that didn't conjure up images of wrath and destruction. But nothing seemed to come to mind. I shook my head.

“...Suit yourself.”
