Zoiros had been protecting her legion for as long as she could remember.

She had seen countless young Banescales head off. She usually stayed in back, tending to their wounds and listening to their stories. A lot of them were young and dumb. She didn't blame them. She was too meek to take up the same path, and was glad she learned the way of the medics instead.

Until one fateful battle, where she was drafted to the front lines. Gaolers attacked the Banescales ruthlessly, pressing forward. She was told to bring as many as she could to safety, if she couldn't heal them.

There were so many bodies.

One Banescale was of note, he was covered in vibrant scales colored of both magma, forests, and sea. He was trapped under some ice and debris, but in good shape, thankfully.

"Please-"

Zoiros was already flying, rushing to help someone else who was bleeding out. She couldn't find the words and could only look on, but rushed off to help.

The Gaolers had encroached further, tides being turned against the Banescales. Retreat wasn't an option, not for the soldiers, but as a healer... She rushed to fly back to the trapped Banescale. She caught word the Gaolers were preparing for a final attack. She could only fear what it was.

"You came back for me." The wounded Banescale had said.

"Of course," she said as she pushed off the debris and grabbed him. "Hang on tight!" She said as she lifted off.

She left at just the right time, as soon as she got into the air, a blast of ice covered the terrain. Both Banescales and Gaolers froze to the core. She looked with horror as she continued to fly upward and away.

The Banescale under her wings said a few words. "We can never go back."

"I know."

The flight to safety was solemn.
Name is the name they gave me,
on my hatch day, but now with a poem
I'm searching for a place to call home.
Maybe I can be your new baneby?
