Biography

Aeric
Meteorologist
Chaotic Neutral

PkKAmaj.png
Working as a meteorologist, Aeric perfectly predicts the weather that the island will experience each day. This is due to his accomplishments in wizardry, not divination; he has total control over the weather around the fortress. Of course, with the help of actual diviners, he can create winds to blow away any threats to the island. Cloudy with a 0% chance of pirates is a welcome forecast.

This isn't as much of a boon to the clan as it may seem. He gets bored rather often, and thus creates hailstorms and the like for the fun of it. Fortunately, after the events of the last hurricane, he can be persuaded to be at least somewhat thoughtful when it comes to deciding the weather. It still snows throughout a third of the summer though. And even on the nicest days on the island, Aeric still keeps the weather a bit windy. It's in his nature. At the very least it keeps the enchanted kites moving, so his turbulent moods are actually contributing something.

His powers only work near the fortress. He's got a strong connection to the flow of magic in the area, and that's why he has such an ability. Not that he's told anyone else of this restriction; he's got a bit of a ego. His runes even fade should he leave the island, making it obvious just how dependant his magic is on remaining here.

Some have suggested that the weather is directly influenced by Aeric's emotions, without the bogsneak needing to take any conscious control of the weather magic. This is true only to the point where he's more likely to create storms out of spite when in a bad mood. He's done nothing to stop these rumours though — and as far as he's concerned an offer of fresh steak in exchange for good weather tomorrow will not only improve his mood, but might actually work!

Amphitrite is one of his friends, and Aeric tries to assist her when possible. He can guarantee a tailwind whenever she's leaving for deliveries, and clear skies whenever she's challenged someone to a race. He's offered to have the winds take Amphitrite's side during these races, but the nocturne is far too honourable to cheat. Aeric doesn't really get why. As far as he is concerned, it isn't cheating, and Amphitite just isn't using all the advantages available to her.

Aeric very rarely leaves the island. After all, what's the point in going somewhere where you can't make it rain on command?

Currently, he's working on building a very tall tower on the island. Why? Because if he flies up and lands on top of it, it'll be extra dramatic when he calls down the thunder(storm). Nobody's quite sure how high he wants to build it, but the sheer amount of stability enchantments he's requested are rather alarming.

When he's not working on his tower, Aeric goes around looking for praise to fuel his ego with. Like most dragons, Aeric is quite prideful, and like most dragons, his clanmates refuse to even suggest someone could be better than they are. Conversations with the bogsneak often turn into posturing matches that last for hours. Aeric would get some spiteful revenge afterwards, but it's pretty obvious who the only clan member that would summon a localized snowstorm inside your den is.

Still, there are those who are impressed by Aeric's magic. The beastclans who trade with the clan often haven't seen magic at the scale he controls. They're also often too afraid of being around so many dragons to suggest otherwise. Luckily for the beastclans, Aeric is actually quite friendly towards anyone that lets him show off. Not that the rest of the clan appreciates him destroying the landscape with twisters for a longneck's amusement.

It is strange to fear the Ground, even for one born of Wind.
