There's something in the water. . . The cliffs surrounding the Beacon of the Radiant eye drop off into the sea and continue downwards into a deep oceanic trench. This is where Cthulhu resides. Bioluminescent chromatophores cover his skin, enabling him to control the glowing patches of pigmentation that flicker across his body. Dermal scales covered by a thin layer of mucus allow him to move smoothly through the water without generating friction and hot gas erupts from his mouth similarly to a thermal vent. His teeth are needle-like similar to those of an angler fish. He creates a restless environment in which hot and cold water mix and disturb the area above. Flying dragons feel as if the force of gravity constantly changes in the air above the trench. Ships too are often pulled underwater due to changes in atmospheric pressure (much like the Bermuda Triangle). Cthulhu survives off of small organisms that he attracts by sticking himself to the bottom of the ocean and pretending to be a thermal vent (basically stuff just swims straight into his mouth).
