""Speak up! I can't see you when you're quiet!""

━━━━━━━━━━━━ b i o ━━━━━━━━━━━━

Darova is a lizard, a magic-less dragon in a world full of magic. Born a bogsneak, a mysterious trip resulted in her returning as a wildclaw. She refuses to divulge on the secrets though. Another issue that directly affects her life is her congenital blindness. She's never seen a day in her life, and her suppressed bogsneak senses made living difficult. Despite this, a lucky break and dragons dedicated to making her less of a drain on their precious resources helped develop her into the capable young lady today.

Abandoned by her original clan, and raised up by a plague clan, Darova grew up tough. She had to, or she'd be dead. There is no room for her disability in the wyrmwound. She learnt basic first aid, by practising on herself and learning from the plague doctors, though never had a knack for diseases. The only one she knew how to cure was infection, a simple ailment that if left untreated, could lead to death. Her goals were to stay on the other side of the door of death, no matter what it took, so infection was quickly mastered.

She has no current mate, but often enjoys snuggling up with the other wildclaws in a big cuddlepile. They have all accepted her as part of their own. She spends a lot of time with Magpie due to her lack of a partner, but finds her quietness annoying. Oftentimes Magpie will pop up and scare Darova, resulting in another scar on Magpie's hide. At least she knows first aid.

Darova is a very quiet dragon. She prefers to listen to others movements rather than talk, lest she miss something important. Always tilting her head, she can locate things with a pinpoint accuracy, if it's quiet. As such, she is not often seen in marketplace areas or areas with loud conversation. She's always alert.

Darova is a superstitious dragon, and while she does not pray to the gods, she is often seen paying her respects to a token which she calls "Death". According to her, death is the beginning and the end of all life, and all who run from him are only running into his arms. Death takes the forms of all things, from an untreated infection to the blade of an enemy, the last sleep of an elder to the fang of a predator. That does not mean she will not stop running though. Sometimes death is greedy, and takes what isn't his. One day she will greet death on the other side of the door. But as long as she is alive, then today is not that day.

There are rumours she signed a deal with the Shade, or an emperor, but she lets them talk. There is no harm in simple words, as their only use to her is placing her potential attackers' positions. Everyone is a threat, and silly words grasping at old straws are not going to save her from a direct assault. So she ignores them, and let's the rumours fly on their dying wings.

━━━━━━━━━━━━ l o r e ━━━━━━━━━━━

Sornieth is a world of magic and dragons. For Darova though, it is an empty world. Born blind and magic-less, her bogsneak parents sighed and turned away. The breed was still new, and there were still so many flaws with the genetic code. It didn't take long for her to be surrendered to the wastelands. A small, blind 'lizard' in a desert never would have lasted for many days. Her parents gave her mere hours.

But death was not fated for her. Scooped up on a mirror's patrol, she was taken to the food piles of an ancient lair. Her body was limp and dehydrated, but it was still alive.

Her first meal was rotten carcass and fleshy cactus fruit.

When the butcher came, he glared at her, but surrendered her to the doctors. It was not their way to eat a still live dragon, let alone a mere babe. They had no cure for her blindness, but her dehydration was an easy fix. That lair was where she spent her childhood.

She grew up among hunters, mirrors capable of hunting when the nights were darkest, as well as doctors skilled in performing operations inside of dragons. The doctors operated purely by touch, the hunters by scent and hearing. Had she been in another clan, her attitude towards her disability may have been different, but in a land that wounded the healthy and killed the weak, she needed to earn her meals. She learnt first aid, specialising in puncture and battle wounds. Soon she could identify the smell of infection and find the herbs to remedy it before the other dragon even realised it was rotten. She learned to fight as well. It took longer than the other hatchlings, her body was weak and underdeveloped, and not only did the others have sight, but they also had magic at their disposal.
Darova threw her heart into it, she stayed behind and trained until the sands were cool under her feet, but her body was just too slow. She'd waddle over to where she assumed the other dragon was standing, and by the time she'd arrive, the other dragon had circled her and threw a paralysis spell at her. Hunting was the same as well. She could hear where a rabbit and its kits were, but by the time she'd crashed through the jungle and scrape herself on a particularly sharp tree, they were gone. She couldn't see, but she could feel the glares burning on her back.

Nobody knew how she did it, but Darova was gone one morning. Disappearing into the desert, she had left with no note. The clan though she was dead, and some breathed a sigh of relief. But Darova had a mission in plan. A week passed with no sight of her. Darova the bogsneak was truly dead.
And yet, she came back. Staggering into the centre place of the clan, on wobbly muscled legs, she had returned, supported by some of the scouts. Powerful raptorlike wings sunk down from her shoulders and trailed on the ground. Horns had sprouted from where fins once grew, and feathers replaced leather. Darova, with no magic, no sight, and nothing to lose, had sacrificed everything to turn herself into one of the most powerful breeds; the Wildclaw. Collapsing in front of the Matriarch, she gambled her chances on the mirror's hint of kindness. While she turned away from the exhausted wildclaw, she did not kill her. And so, she stayed.

This stay was always going to be temporary though.

Her new body responded to her commands with greater ease. Her feathers muffled her steps, and her lesser size meant she could fit where before she barged through. Her bipedalism left her arms free for a short bow, and her powerful legs meant her speed was unrivalled. Soon she was beating her opponents and succeeding in hunting. Her catches were small, but she was feeding herself. She could find her food, survive an ambush from 3 dragons, find her way through the night when others would be disadvantaged, and stitch her own wounds. She was ready to leave. While she loved her old clan, her presence was detrimental to the others, and her disability in such a wild area would certainly mean death.

And so she was here. Another hunter, at Ursa's door. She could fend for herself, and her skills in battle field injuries would serve her well in the coliseum. Another unwanted child with an expensive debt, hiding in a labyrinth with the other rejects.

Of course she was welcome.

ETYMOLOGY - Darova: Roman - ""The Direct""

RELATIONS -
25850241.png
Loa
Partner
━━━━━━━ X ━━━━━━━━
Darova shares a polyamorous relationship with every other wildclaw in the clan. While some of the others have preferred partners, they are all willing to share a bed with her. Darova is weirded out by the intimacy of the group, as her upbringing was the opposite, but has managed to blend in unnoticeably. Due to the connection everybody shares, the others will often help her out. Subtly, though. Darova will fight anyone who tries to support her.

20547138.png
Cress
Hunting Partner
━━━━━━━ X ━━━━━━━━
Cress and Hunter often go fighting with the blind girl, while is uncommon for a wilclaw team. Cress would never admit it though, but he can see Hunter appreciates the companionship. Darova would never admit the ease she finds fighting in the jungles with the boys. She doesn't need to know that Cress has a tight control of the safety of the situation.

Hunter
Hunting Partner
━━━━━━━ X ━━━━━━━━
Hunter likes fighting with female wildclaws. Pyre was one, Magpie is another, and now Darova shares their food. She knows how to sew p injuries however, and does it in a way so the scars still show. He at least likes that part of her. He thought the blindness was going to be an issue, but she moves as if she wasn't affected at all, which Hunter finds pretty intriguing. It doesn't stop him from sneaking up in front of her and making her trip over him. It was only a prank though.
