Illuyanka

She rested for so long.

But when Sornieth shifted, as the bounty of the elements was unleashed upon it, her peace was disturbed.

Her Charge was taken in a battle with another Guardian. That ancient remanent was fiercely protected by Illuyanka, but fiercely contested by her opponent, a smaller, younger dragon whose Charge was something along the lines of knowledge itself. In a lighter context, this would have struck Illy as pretentious, but the young Guardian's Charge was no joke. Illy lost the vicious battle- years of sulking at the bottom of a murky pond doesn't exactly leave one in fighting shape -and was left for dead. But she was good at slowly gaining her strength, and after several turns of the moons, she was ready to reclaim her Charge.

She moved slowly but surely across the landscape. Initially, she had feared that it would be difficult, or impossible, to track her Charge- her mouth was out of practice at speaking, let alone making inquiring questions as to whether a young green Guardian had passed by with a slab of ancient debris. However, a loyal trail had been left by the material. Illuyanka followed this path and managed to regain her Charge. It was an easier feat than her first battle had indicated, for the thief had weakened greatly in this time, probably due to the poisonous effect of object.

Illuyanka clutched her Charge in her jaw and stumbled, as far as she was able. She was first noticed by Venerated, who attempted to convince her to seek medical help, and introduce herself to the clan, but Illuyanka did neither. Venerated was soon joined by Sunniva, whose unthanked efforts are probably the reason that Illuyanka is still alive, and not dead of an infection.

Over time, it became apparent that this small corner of the landscape doubtlessly belonged to Illuyanka. She neighbors the antisocial Varlan- an excellent arrangement, as neither wants to nor needs to communicate with the other. The reality that her Charge is a piece of junk has drawn some to deposit rubbish around her, things which could neither be repurposed nor burned in the fires commonly employed to destroy waste. Sometimes dragons or members of Beastclans sift through the waste, searching for something valuable or important, but most of the time Illuyanka's only companions are the fanrats, and other scavengers, upon which she feeds, and a disturbing sentient statue drawn here to do the same.

Her silent, quiet shape is feared by all, but perhaps most keenly by other Guardians. Rumors of former Illuyanka's children, friends, rivals, and romances all indicate that she was once quite an ordinary dragon before the urge to guard completely consumed her. The more kindhearted dragons have tried to speak with her, but she remains silent, either unwilling to speak or incapable of thinking of anything beyond her Charge.
