Clan Shatter Gems

What happens when an earthquake hits? Most flee into a stable den or out in the open away from objects. But, what happens when you live underground? Deep in the Earth deeper than most dragons? You experience it first, and you experience it longer than those above the ground. It's one of the scariest things that can happen. Your home can literally be torn apart separating families, killing eggs just newly laid. It can wipe out whole clans. Ones just like Axinite, whose clan was buried underneath their very home. Caverns flooded drowning some, forges bursting open burning others. A clan over 200 strong became just one strong that day. A young Bogsneak boy who was out gathering ore for the smiths of the clan mercilessly survived.

Never did he realize as he pushed away the rubble blocking his way home that his home wouldn't be there. The great city collapsing on itself leaving a gaping chasm with barely a hint of the life that was once there. With a cry, Axinite started digging at the chasm’s floor trying to look for the survivors he knew that couldn't survive under thousands of pounds of rocks and ores.

He spent days looking and listening and waiting for a sign. When none came he left taking nothing with him. He spent the next several years digging and exploring even making it to the surface where he immediately said to bright and went back underground but would explore and trade with the surface dwellers at night until eventually, he met Citrine They decided to become mates and search for others to make a clan. After meeting Tourmaline and Heliotrope they decided to finally look for a more permanent home. They eventually tunneled their way into the Windsinger domain. Tunneling deep and deeper into the soil they started making their clan under a section of the Reedcleft Ascent right below the clan Globetrotters.

Axinite takes the structure of the clan home very seriously and is constantly checking on it and making repairs and reinforcement to the walls. He also takes the protection of it as well he's often out getting rid of pests and making sure no other tunneling creatures are infringing on their territory. The clan is very tight-knit but they don't often have big group events each choosing to kinda branch of and do their own thing. Axinite may not approve of it much but some of the clan members take trips up to the surface to explore and socialize bringing down surface knowledge and items. The surface exit is in a little hidden place so neither does Clan Shatter Gems or Globetrotters know about each other yet. They are unknowingly tunneling closer and closer to each other. As the Globetrotters tunnel down the more "surface lovers" of the clan are tunneling up to find new areas.

The day Tourmaline came up to Axinite and Citrine with the news there's “another den.” They were rightfully confused but as the goofy tundra led them both up to the highest tunnel they stood there stunned. To see a wall of stone emerging from the dirt of the tunnel Tourmaline had been working on. Not sure what to do they were all spooked when a knocking could be heard from the other side. Axinite bristled (As much as a smooth skin Bogsneak could) and immediately herded the others away from the wall before approaching. Knocking back Axinite spoke asking who was behind the wall. After a few hours of talking between Axinite, Citrine, and Demantoid from the clan Shatter Gems and Anasa, Enoth, and JayJabber from the clan GlobeTrotters the wall was taken down. For the first since the Shatter Gems moved into the area, they met their upstairs neighbors the Globetrotters. Axinite was very untrusting but both of the clan's Matriarch’s instantly connected and started talking. They all agreed to meet on neutral ground. The next night all of the Shattered Gems meet up with the Glogetrotters on top of the grass flats of the Reedcleft Ascent. They spent many hours socializing while the leaders of the groups discussed diplomacy ideas. They agreed to keep the connecting tunnel up and make a smaller den area between them so the clans could “meet” and socialize and exchange goods. Axinite still is nervous and untrusting of the surface clan and almost never talks to any of them except when Citrine makes him join a meeting among the leaders.
