Cagey about his reasons for leaving the Plaguebringer's service, doesn't enjoy talking about the specifics. He struggled when he first came to the clan, not knowing what the point of his life was now. Unsure of whether his life has ever had a point or purpose. He was a tool of violence for violence's sake now cut adrift into the world. He settled in the clan and lent his body to any manner of manual labour he could find.

While helping haul plating for the newest lightning farm, he met Mandarine out in the desert scavenging for cacti sprouts.

In the years since, she has helped him realise he is not who he once was. To be lucky or skilled enough to reach old age was a gift, and he should not waste his grinding his tired bones down to dust in some misguided attempt at penance.

A happenstance of a missing hatchling lead to him helping out Gran with looking after the clan's numerous hatchlings. Though he tries to hide his affection for them, he secretly cares deeply for all of them and tries his hardest to give them the kindness and nurturing love they need.

He tries not to let it conjure memories of recruits long now bleaching under the harsh sun of the Scarred Wasteland,
